Kathleen A. Newberry Kathleen A. Newberry

1944-2025

It is with great sadness that we share Kathleen A. Newberry has been called home to be with Jesus on June 13, 2025. Her husband Charles was by her side. Memorial services for Kathy will be held on July 26, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 751 Grace Way, Medford, with a luncheon to follow the service. Kathy was born on Dec. 16, 1944, to Dorne and June Reitzloff in Milwaukee.

In 1956, her family moved to Presque Isle, where she attended school in Marenisco, Mich., and met her soulmate, Chuck.

On Nov. 17, 1961, Chuck and Kathy were married and started their lifelong journey together. They resided in Presque Isle until 1972, when they moved to Hurley. In 1989 they moved to Medford, where they resided until her passing.

In 1974, Kathy completed high school and received her diploma. Years later, after being the best housewife and mom, she returned to school, completing the cosmetology program and receiving her certificate.

Together Kathy and Chuck raised six children. When she could find free time, she was an avid reader and loved to watch Days of Our Lives.

Kathy was an amazing cook. Everything she made was homemade. She only measured with her heart. The family looked forward to her Sunday fried chicken dinners.

In 1993, while operating their foster home, Blaz came into their lives. In 1997, they made him a permanent family member by adopting him. Blaz brought happiness and joy to Kathy’s heart and soul.

Kathy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Charles Sr.; along with her sons, Charles Jr. (Gayle) of Iron River, Mich., Mark of Marshfield, Donald (Lorraine) of Mosinee, Kevin of Iron River, Mich., and Blaz of Medford; daughters, Lil Kathy (Calin) Thied of Montreal, and Crystal Kinkead of Arlington, Minn.; brother-in-law, Clint (Gloria Schmidt) Newberry of Ironwood, Mich.; sister-in-law, Hazel Schweikert of Superior; sisters, Abby (Bob) Wolf and Doreen (Richard Brandt) Tripp; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; brothers, Keith and William Reitzloff and Bruce Brownell; and sister, Kelly Martin; brotherin- laws and sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathy loved hard and with her whole being. She is greatly missed, leaving a void in our family that can never be filled. This is not good-bye, just we’ll see you later. We love you so, so much. “Boop-Oop-A-Doop”.
