Male charged with three counts of child pornography

Abbotsford resident Aron Gonzalez Jurado, 18, is being charged with three Class D felony counts of possession of child pornography. The CAPD executed a search warrant at a residence in Abbotsford and during the search, Gonzalez Jurado was identified as one of the parties living at the residence.

Gonzalez Jurado had two phones and was brought to the CAPD to be interviewed for the search warrant. During the interview, Gonzalez Jurado identified both phones as belonging to him and gave the interviewing officer permission to look through the cell phones. He signed a consent to search electronic device for both phones. During the search, the officer found pictures of a younger female who Gonzalez Jurado said was his girlfriend in Mexico. Gonzalez Jurado told the officer the pictures were from three years ago when she was 16 years old and said he does not use the phone daily because it was his phone in Mexico and he uses the iPhone as his primary phone now.

The officer told Gonzalez Jurado that the phones will be downloaded and when that is complete, they can be returned if there is no other evidence on the phones.

The officer then gave the phones over to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office investigators to be downloaded. The officer received the downloads for the two phones on April 25 for the iPhone and April 30 for the Samsung phone. The officer reviewed the download of the Samsung phone belonging to Gonzalez Jurado and saw the two images that were mentioned in the preliminary investigation. The officer looked further into the phone images and found several more images and two videos of younger males and females with their genitals exposed.

The officer went to a residence in Colby to meet with Gonzalez Jurado and transported him to the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department. The officer read the man his Miranda warning and agreed to speak with the officer.

He confirmed the phone did belong to him and said there were videos of girls and guns from when he lived in Mexico. Gonzalez Jurado said it is not his girlfriend in the videos and it was just a girl that he knows and has seen before. He said he has a group of friends that share videos through WhatsApp. Gonzalez Jurado said the female was about 15 or 16 years old and that he was also 15 or 16 years old when the videos were shared in the app.

Gonzalez Jurado was asked about the other images of young males and females and said he did not remember seeing the images. He said he did not use the phone anymore and only used it for one week while living in the United States. The officer asked why the phone was on and charged when the officers originally got the phone if he does not use it. Gonzalez Jurado said his friend uses the phone and he has his own SIM card that he uses in the phone.

The officer explained to Gonzalez Jurado that he told the officer that the phone belonged to him and he is in possession of it with child pornography on the phone. Gonzalez Jurado said it is common in Mexico to send pictures like that through WhatsApp. Gonzalez Jurado was placed under arrest for possession of child pornography and was transported to the Clark County Jail. The officer charged Gonzalez Jurado with seven counts of possession of child pornography but the Clark County District Attorney’s office reduced the charges to three counts.

Gonzalez Jurado appeared in court on May 9 for a bail/ bond hearing. A $5,000 cash bond along with a $20,000 signature bond was set by Judge William Bratcher. Gonzalez Jurado posted the $5,000 cash bond and signed the $20,000 signature bond on May 10.

He is to have no possession or use of any electronic devices including computers and cell phones to access the Internet, no traveling outside of the state of Wisconsin without permission from the Court and is to have no unsupervised contact with minors. Each Class D felony is punishable by up to 25 years in state prison, a maximum fine of $100,000, or both imprisonment and a fine.

Gonzalez Jurado is next scheduled to appear in Clark County court on July 2 at 10 a.m. for his initial appearance.
