Girls head class of 1954; commencement set for Friday night
Ann Janda and Maurine Wepfer achieved highest scholastic honors in the graduating class of
1954, in addition to extra curricular activities. Janda is the valedictorian while Wepfer is the salutatorian.
Girl Scouts receive awards at cookout
Abbotsford Girl Scouts, Troop No. 58, closed a busy year of accomplishment and fun with a cookout and court of awards. The cookout was held at the Marathon County Park at Unity.
Contributions needed for Boy Scout clubhouse
Plans for the new Boy Scout clubhouse have been completed and the construction will be started as soon as possible. Money, materials and voluntary labor are needed to complete the project.

Abbotsford city councilmen in regular session Monday evening, held a lengthy discussion with the city’s engineers concerning plans for water and sewer extensions to be completed this year.
Fire hits Wisco Milling Co.; Damage not heavy
Abbotsford firemen were called to Wisco Milling Co. Tuesday afternoon to extinguish a fire that developed in a hammermill which is located in the basement of the mill building.

Farmers ask legislators’ help on power quality
Area farmers whose herds and families are suffering from what they say is an electrical power distribution problem have enlisted the aid of local legislators in their search for a solution. State Sen. Russ Decker and State Rep. Scott Suder both attended a meeting in the town of Colby.
Dorchester State Bank opens Colby branch

Abbotsford class of 1999 to graduate Saturday
Jennie Rebne and Kim Mannetter are the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Abbotsford Class of 1999. The class president Craig Vesley will welcome those present and the senior class will perform a musical selection.
