Vox Pop - Praises Matt Frey; says democrats caught flat footed

Vox Pop

I have to say I really enjoy Matt Frey’s Bleacher Shots articles.

I am not a ball sports fan, the truth be told. But I really, really like Matt’s insights into our Wisconsin professional sports scene. I enjoy the deep dive into the behind the scenes goings on with the Brewers, Packers, and the Bucks. It’s almost like sitting down with a good friend over a Wilson Brau beer and talking sports. I wish he could publish his column more frequently but I can understand he is very busy covering local high school sports scene. Most likely this column came about as we are entering the professional baseball season and a slight lull in high school sports activity.

Please pass this along to Matt and let him know he as at least one avid fan in the readership of the Star News.

As far as the April editorial column entitled “Don’t Let Party Machinery Dictate Voter Choice” is concerned, this would appear to me to be a prime example of the rule of intended consequences.

The redistricting of the Wisconsin electoral map came about as Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Janet Protasiewicz stated during her campaign that the Wisconsin electoral maps were incorrectly drawn and as a Wisconsin Supreme court justice she would vote to have those maps redrawn.

Curiously the State Republican dominated legislature has agreed to the redistricting as presented. It appears they feel this is their best deal they could get and are going to run with it.

Could it be that the Democrats were caught flat footed and are now having to play catch up with candidates running in the new districts?

As always, be careful what you wish for, as you may just get it.
