Central Chamber Chorale presents concert March 10

The Central Chamber Chorale cordially invites the public to attend its spring concert, “From the Old World to the New World,” taking place Sunday, March 10, at 3 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 1208 W. 14th St., Marshfield. There is also a performance on Saturday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 321 N. Park Ave., Medford. All concerts are open to the public and free of charge.

The Chorale celebrates its spring concert season with music from Europe, “The Old World,” and music from America, “The New World.” In the first half of the concert the Chorale will perform several pieces by European composers, including Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Toward the Unknown Region” and Felix Mendelssohn’s “Die Nachtigall.” The second half includes the traditional spiritual “This Little Light of Mine,” show tunes, and the central Wisconsin premiere of “Prairie Spring,” Christian Ellenwood’s choral setting of a poem by Willa Cather.

The Chorale is a group of 25-30 singers from Marshfield and the surrounding areas, including Spencer, Loyal, Granton, Stratford and Arpin, that performs two concert series per year. The group is the under the direction of Hana Worsham, who chose the selection of music, and Kathy Biederwolf is the Chorale’s accompanist.

This concert is sponsored in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
