Cadott Village Board - Old website no longer a good fit for municipal needs

Currently, the website for the Village of Cadott is not user-friendly and is no longer supported, not allowing certain uploads or changes by the village clerk.
“I’d like to start using it more, honestly, for information,” said clerk April Bruhn, Jan. 15.
Through Town Web Design, the village pays $635, per year, for the site, but when Bruhn requested help with an issue, was informed there was nothing they could do, because it was not supported. It was agreed to switch services from Town Web to CCS Direct, with a one-time set-up fee of $2,000, then a yearly charge of $294.89.
It was also brought up by trustee Les Liptak, to ask for documentation when the current website became obsolete and request a refund, from that time to now, since Cadott should have been notified that the site would be unsupported.
“If they’ve been charging us $700 a year, for something they knew was no good, then we’ll get some fresh funds to start over with the new firm,” said Liptak.
Members also approved an agreement with AEP for solar power to the village, for the 10 percent of the initial part, but not the new part of solar generation, that has been discussed.
The matter passed with four in favor (Bart Chapek, Randy Kuheni, Todd Seeley, Nicole Whipp-Sime), one opposed (Liptak) and two absent (Terry Licht, Eric Weiland).
