Abbotsford and Colby trickor- treat hours

Both Colby and Abbotsford will be hosting their trick-or-treat celebrations from 4-7 p.m. on October 31. Residents of the cities are encouraged to leave their porch light on if they are distributing goodies to children who are dressing up. Abby/Colby Fa rmer’s Market

The AbbyColby Crossings Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Farmer’s Market at the Dehne Street Plaza in Colby from 2 - 6 p.m. on Fridays through October. The event will feature homemade items, local foods and crafts from the area. Dorchester Lions deer hide collection We want your hide! The Wisconsin Lions Foundation has launched their deer hide collection across Wisconsin. This fundraiser helps raise money for the many Lions charities and community projects. If you would like to donate your deer hide, the Dorchester Lions has a drop off site at the Dorchester C Store on the corner of Hwy 13 and Business Hwy. A.

Abbotsford leaf pickup

The city of Abbotsford public works department will be picking up leaves periodically from now until November 2. Residents of Abbotsford who wish to have leaves picked up are instructed to put them in the gutter in front of their property.

Colby leaf pickup

The city of Colby will be picking up leaves that are on the curb October 27 to November 3. After November 3, you will have to take your leaves to the city’s compost pile at the end of S, 4th Street near the sewer treatment plant. St. Mary’s Annual Christmas Fa ir The annual St. Mary’s Christmas Fair will be held on Saturday, November 11 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Colby Lions Shelter. The event is free to the public with chicken dumpling soup, chicken wild rice soup and chili for sale by the quart, artisan breads, stollen, scones, and other homemade bakery items for sale. Also, the Christmas Fair will feature handcrafted Christmas wreaths available for purchase, a cookie walk, a silent auction of a large assortment of gift baskets and instant door prizes. St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at N13520 County Road E in rural Colby will be hosting a hot BBQ pork sandwich luncheon October 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The lunch will contain BBQ pork sandwiches, scalloped potatoes, vegetables, salad and homemade pies. The lunch is free but a free will offering will be collected with proceeds going to the Angel Tree Project to help provide food for needy families.

CCL Halloween events

There will be Trick or Treating from noon until 7 p.m. at the Colby Community Library (CCL) on Tuesday, October 31.

Also on Halloween, all bookmark entries in the October Bookmark Coloring Contest are due by 7 p.m. The contest is open to youth, teens, and adults.

Zion lutheran church

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. 2nd. St., Colby, holds two worship services. Join them every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. or Sundays at 8 a.m. with Pastor James Groleau. Sunday school is held on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. For more information call 715-223-2166. CUP Food Pantry is also open on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church.
