There are new owners, but familiar faces at The Sports Page in Medford.

The Sports Page has been a community staple under the ownership of Mike and Tracy Platt for the past 32 years. The family owned establishment took a town treasure and expanded it to offer automatic scoring systems, a banquet room, pool hall and arcade room, league bowling, kid birthday parties, stone baked pizza, high school bowling lessons, graduation parties and any sports event in between. It's been a place for family and friends to gather for decades.

On July 10, 2023 Mike and Tracy Platt turned a page as they sold The Sports Page to their son, Eric Platt of Eau Claire and Tyler Messman of Medford.

Eric Platt was born into the bowling industry in 1991. In fact, Mike and Tracy purchased The Sports Page just 15 days before he was born. During his grade school years the bus would drop Eric off at The Sports Page every day after school where he would help out by spraying down the bowling shoes. Some nights he remembers occasionally getting to stay late to watch the beginning of League Bowling and even got to see one of his dad's perfect 300 games. After high school, Eric attended UW-Madison where he graduated with a degree in business. In 2015 Eric became the General Manager of the bowling alley Bowl Winkle's in Eau Claire where he currently resides.

Tyler Messman graduated from UWLa Crosse with a degree in education and has been successfully managing the team at The Sports Page since 2017. Leading up to his role as General Manager, Tyler was an educator in the Prentice School District.

Tyler met Eric through high school basketball at Medford Area Senior High and they quickly became friends. Together as teammates Eric and Tyler plan to bring new ideas and offerings both to the Sports Page and to the Medford community.

Some new things to look out for at The Sports Page include seasonal food items, drink specials and an All Skill Level Bowling/Golf Tournament.

The bowling season is underway. You can sign up with a team or individually. Visit www.sportspagebowlandgrill.com to learn more.
