Happy holidays to all our families. The Wisconsin winter quickly came to us all in the matter of one day. I hope you all enjoyed the couple of “snow” days and the fresh blanket of heavy snow. This comes just in time to give us a white holiday season!

It has been another quick school year thus far. Our first term ended right before Thanksgiving break and we are already a couple weeks into our second term. Our students performed very well in our first term. When I look at the number of students on our honor roll in both middle and high school it is very encouraging. This is a testament to the hard work our students put in and also the dedication our teachers have in providing our students a high quality education. Many of our students have also been using our GIT time daily for schoolwork and access to their teachers. As a reminder, all our middle and high school students have 40 minutes daily to be able to access any of their teachers and get individual or small group help. This has been very successful for us. We continue to stress the importance of this time and look for more ways to help guide our students to being responsible for their learning but also seeking the help they need from their teachers.

Shortly after we get back from break, we will begin the scheduling process for the 2023-24 school year. Conversations and meetings will take place with grade groups and individual students to assist in their four-year plans. As this will be new to our eighth graders, it is an exciting time for the students and staff to work through this together.

Our student organizations continue to meet monthly and plan events that not only benefit our school but also our community. Opportunities for students to learn the value of community ser- vice and the importance of personal involvement continues to be a focus here in Loyal. Our middle school and high school band just performed their holiday concert this past week. We estimate there were over 300 people in attendance for this event. What a great way for our students to appreciate the support and encouragement from all who attended. Our winter sports teams continue to press on through their seasons. Our seventh and eighth grade boys basketball team will finish up their season soon, while our seventh and eighth grade girls basketball team will get started and be in full swing after the holiday break. Our boys and girls basketball teams along with our wrestlers will reach that halfway point of their seasons soon. We encourage them all to press on and continue to represent our school in the great way they have been. We encourage you all to come on in and watch a game or check out our livestream on our Loyal You-Tube channel where you can watch the home games and other school events live from anywhere you may be. We would like to see us reach more viewers, so please spread the word to other family members and friends who may enjoy watching our events.

Lastly, we have started a multimedia productions class. Mrs. Croxall has taken it over and our students have produced their first event. If you would like to see our students “live” in action during their first broadcast it is archived on our YouTube page for your viewing pleasure. They did an amazing job and we are looking forward to seeing each weekly episode. This has been a big hit for us and just another way we can showcase the talents of our student body.

From my family to all of yours, have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year! I look forward to seeing you all in 2023!

Loyal Middle and High School Principal Doug Dieckman
