Gunner Lawrence Peterson, 27, of Medford, was traveling westbound on Forest Rd 554, on September 11, at 6:50 a.m., in the town of Grover. Peterson moved over to avoid hitting a deer running out onto the roadway from the north. Peterson’s vehicle and attached boat lost control and entered the south ditch striking a tree. Peterson’s vehicle sustained heavy damage to the front end and came to rest facing westbound. The trailer and boat all sustained some minor damage, but all were removed without incident. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
Issac Samuel Marlen Kautzer, 16, of Medford, was traveling eastbound on CTH M, on September 5, at 1:05 p.m., in the town of Cleveland, when a deer ran out of the ditch and into the roadway. Kautzer advised that he applied the brake and the back end kicked out causing him to go into the ditch. Kautzer also said he was unable to correct the car and ended up crashing into a tree in the south ditch. Kautzer was the lone occupant and he was uninjured. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
Kristi Theresa Kreklau, 16, of Stetsonville, was stopped at the stop sign of Luepke Way intending to turn westbound onto Broadway Ave., on September 14, at 3:35 p.m., in the city of Medford. Leander Stanley Lake, 79, of Medford, was traveling westbound on Broadway Ave. Kreklau started the turn in front of Lake’s vehicle. Lake didn’t have enough time to stop for Kreklau and both vehicles came into contact with each other causing a large dent and scratches to the driver’s side corner of the rear bumper Kreklau’s vehicle and scratches to the front bumper and damage to the driver’s side front light housing of Lake’s vehicle. Kreklau stated she did not see Lake before she made her turn. Kreklau was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way from stop sign.
Martin P. Higgins, 56, of Medford, was traveling westbound on Hwy 64 in the outer lane, on September 16, at 3:44 p.m., in the city of Medford. Vance Roy Haakenson, 18, of Medford, was stopped in the furthest west driveway of the Medford High School parking lot waiting to execute a turn onto Hwy 64. A school bus was also traveling westbound that was slowing or stopping to execute a right hand turn into the same driveway Haakenson was at. The school bus was in the turn lane for that driveway while Higgin’s vehicle was in the outer lane passing the school bus but was hidden from Haakenson’s view. Haakenson failed to yield the right of way to Higgins and executed the left hand turn onto Hwy 64. Higgin’s vehicle struck Haakenson’s vehicle as it pulled out onto the highway. Haakenson admitted that he did not consider the outer lane of westbound traffic when he executed his turn. Both drivers indicated that traffic was congested because of an ambulance that was proceeding through the area in emergency mode.
William G. Nelson, 74, of Withee, was traveling northbound on Hwy 73, on September 8, at 2:38 p.m., in the town of Roosevelt. Francis John Marino, 44, of Thorp, turned to go into the parking lot of N1182 South 73. Marino’s vehicle turned in front of Nelson’s vehicle and struck the rear trunk area. Nelson’s vehicle entered the east ditch and struck a power pole. Marino was issued a citation for failure to yield while making a left turn.
Kayden Jay Dassow, 18, of Medford was in the drive through line at McDonald’s on September 20, at 11:05 a.m, in the city of Medford. Dassow said he backed up. Suzanne Jo Schaetzl, 61, of Athens was behind Dassow’s vehicle. Dassow claimed he didn’t see Schaetzl’s vehicle. Dassow’s vehicle struck Schaetzl’s vehicle while backing up.
The following car vs. deer accidents were reported: Willard Walter Fischer, 33, of Rib Lake, on September 10, at 4:43 a.m., on Hwy 102, in the town of Westboro; Ashley Kate Friedel, 29, of Rib Lake, on September 9, at 5:31 p.m.; Noah Martin Higgins, 23, of Medford, on September 7, at 4:50 a.m., on Hwy 13, in the town of Westboro; Danielle Marie Kufalk, 43, of Colby, on September 15, at 3 a.m., on Hwy 13, in the town of Little Black; Jeffery Brian Peterson, 59, of Westboro, on September 12, at 9:53 p.m., on CTH D, in the town of Westboro; Dallas Noel Dommer, 19, of Unity, on September 11, at 2:41 a.m., on Hwy 13, in the town of Chelsea; Shanna Leslie Berger, 40, of Westboro, on September 11, at 12:43 a.m., on CTH C, in the town of Browning; Scott Eugene Olson, 57, of Medford, on September 10, at 7:31 p.m., on Hwy 64, in the town of Medford.
