Logan Harel has long been known as the “best emcee” in the building, the comedian at Cadott High School, but he has whole other levels of depth. Harel has also been classified as kind, humble and generous, with a never-give-up attitude.

That attitude is one of the reasons Harel is a good fit for Itasca Community College, where he signed to wrestle May 18.

Throughout his time in high school, Harel was active in not just wrestling, but also football, cross country and track, as well as pep band, where he loved beating the drum as loudly as he could. And don’t forget the “roller coaster” he led for the crowd during pep rallies.

This past season, Harel didn’t quite reach the goals he set for himself in wrestling, but refocused those goals and bounced back for a third place win at Freestyle Greco State.

Harel’s head wrestling coach Josh Spaeth says he always preaches in the wrestling room, to work for the next best thing, which is what Harel did.

“You see, in life, we have to keep moving forward in all aspects of our lives,” said Spaeth. “We have to set goals and persevere to attain these goals. We will all face disappointments or shortcomings, what is important, is that a person does not give up on their hopes and dreams.”

When touring colleges, Harel was convinced that Itasca in Minnesota, was the perfect choice to not only pursue his wrestling adventures, but to prepare him for what field he wants to go into after college. Harel liked that the university put the emphasis on education first.

“That really got me,” he said, adding he plans to become a chiropractor someday. “That’s what I ultimately want to go into.”
