It’s never been a better time for an Outdoor Edventure

Now that spring has sprung, it’s time to get outdoors and what better way to promote outdoor activities, than with a free community event? The annual Outdoor Edventure is back and better than ever, after the event could not be held last year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The in-person event is coordinated by the Cornell and Lake Holcombe 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CLC), featuring local faces with booths for families to stop in and chat. Although the weather has been somewhat up and down, for the Sunday, April 25, gathering, the forecast looks promising.

All ages are welcome to drop in at Mill Yard Park in Cornell, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., for a chance at prizes, and to take part in games (sponsored by the Cornell and Lake Holcombe after-school programs), crafts and demonstrations. There will also be food for purchase.

“It will have a different look this year, with fewer vendors, said CLC director Kristine Hemenway.

Appearing at the event, and handing out information and free goodies to take home, will be the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Cornell Area Betterment Association (CABA), Courier Sentinel and newly formed Stacker City Farmers Market, to name a few.

Many area businesses donated to make the event possible, such as local banks and non-profit organizations, without whom Hemenway says the free fun day would not happen. Masks are strongly encouraged in the pavilion and during close contact, but Hemenway still expects a large crowd.

“I am so excited to get people outside and enjoying our beautiful area.”
