When Nathan Manor saw a car on fire on Cadott’s Main Street in the early morning hours of Oct. 11, he stepped up to the plate and saved a life.

Manor received recognition for his lifesaving rescue, during an awards ceremony held April 6, during a Cadott Village Board meeting. Rep. Jesse James and Rep. Rob Summerfi eld were on hand to present Manor with the award, on behalf of the state.

“This is an award that’s long overdue to him,” said James.

The vehicle struck a stopped train when going southbound on Main Street. Manor was at a local establishment, when he saw the vehicle rested against the train and on fire. It was then, Manor went to rescue the person inside the vehicle.

“He broke out the front driver’s side window and observed that the male was unconscious,” said James.

Manor says he had to break out a second window, because the driver was in the back seat area of the vehicle and the car would not unlock.

“So, I had to break out the second window in the back and then, open up the back door in order to get him out and down the street, away from the vehicle,” said Manor.

Manor says he only got cuts and scrapes from the ordeal.

“Very worthy of the recognition tonight,” said James.
