Cadott Village Board; Plan for yard waste site confirmed ahead of spring
As spring nears, Cadott Village Board member Eric Weiland says he has gotten questions on the yard waste site, which he brought before the board, during a regular meeting March 15.
Weiland says people are asking why they have to pay $20 to use the waste site on weekdays, since they are taxpayers.
Board president Anson Albarado says hours for the site, April through October, were set at previous meetings.
The site is open every Saturday, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., in April and October. It is also open the first and third Saturday, May through September, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. If a storm comes through, or leaves are late falling that year, the brush site may be opened for extra times.
Albarado says the decision to charge for using the yard waste site outside of those set hours, was decided, because someone has to make a special trip to open the site.
“We had a lot of discussions about it,” agreed board member Bart Chapek.
Things that should not have been disposed of at the yard waste site, according to the DNR regulations, have also turned up in the past.
“If that kept happening, we were going to lose our brush site,” said Randy Kuehni, board member.
Kuehni pointed out, that if the brush site is closed by the DNR, everybody in the village loses the chance to use it.
At the last meeting, Rolly Tichy, public works, said faults were found during a scan at the substation and repairs were needed. Russ Falkenberg, board member, reported that the Utilities Committee met and discussed the options for the repairs since then. The committee approved replacing disconnects and other parts for $16,646. “So that’s all lined up and taken care of?” asked Albarado.
Tichy confirmed everything is lined up and is on the way to being taken care of.
