Joan T ice 1934-2 022 Joan Tice, age 87, went home to be with the Lord, on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Oak Park Assisted Living, Madison, Wis. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 8 at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI 53005 in Chapel of Flowers. Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. Service will be presented by the family. She was born on July 2, 1934 in Chelsea, Wis. to Paul and Elsie Schmoldt. She graduated from Medford High School in 1952. Joan was married to Robert Tice Oct. 9, 1954. Joan worked as an insurance professional for 45 years at various insurance companies. She loved spending time with family, flower gardening and enjoyed her many cats and dogs over the years. Joan and her husband Robert enjoyed traveling in the states and overseas. Survivors include her son, Mark (Lavonne) Tice; grandsons, Tristan Tice, Timothy (Robyn) Tice and Aaron (Stephanie) Tice; and 6 greatgrandchildren, William, Sophia, Cecilia, Alexis, Addison, and Samuel Tice. ebauer 1929-2022 Darlene M. Gebauer, 93, of Rib Lake, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Rib Lake Health Services and while under the care of Hope Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 1 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in the town of Greenwood with Rev. Kenneth Bittorf officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the church. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Friday at the church. Darlene was born June 17, 1929 in the town of Holway to Helen (Raymond) and Edward Riemer. On June 18, 1947, she married Frank E. Gebauer Jr. at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. They resided in the town of Greenwood where they farmed for many years. Frank preceded her in death on May 18, 2002. Darlene was a gifted baker, who loved to bake for her family and friends. She found out what their favorites were and made those special treats for birthdays, graduations, and other events. It was hard to tell what was better, the baking or her canned pickles. A favorite past time was playing cards with her special group of lady friends, and also at Stetsonville Community Center. Her most cherished memories were time spent with her children, grandchildren and siblings. elvin 1969-2022 Angela J. Melvin of Wausau, aged 52, peacefully passed away on June 11, 2022. She lived a special life with many challenges; however, they never stopped her from being feisty and positive. Once she made up her mind, nothing could stop her. She always had the support, love, and care from her family and friends. She had many accomplishments and became a role model to many that knew her. Throughout Angela’s life, she made friends wherever she went. Angie was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. She enjoyed activities including bowling, art, music, watching movies, and researching mythology. 1951-2 022 Barbara (Barb) Kristine (Klinner) Perala passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022 at Our House Assisted Living in Medford. A memorial service for Barb will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 11 at Hemer-Pickerign Funeral Home, Medford, with Pastor David Clements officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, July 11 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Barb was born Apr. 3, 1951, the daughter of Robert & Dagmar (Stenseth) Klinner. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Day School and graduated from Medford High School in 1969. She received her BS degree in elementary education from UW-Eau Claire and received a master’s degree in counseling from UWMilwaukee. She taught elementary children in the Wittenberg-Birnamwood and the Howard-Suamico school districts until her retirement in 2006, forging close bonds with students, parents and her co-workers. Barb came from a family of educators. Both her mother and grandmother were teachers. She had nieces and nephews that were teachers. Her husband Elmer, his sister, his brother, his daughter and several other members of Elmer’s family were also educators. Teaching was Barb’s life and it brought her great joy. She received numerous notes and letters from students and parents each year thanking her for her work as a teacher. When she retired, one student wrote to a younger student, “You might get lucky and get Mrs. Perala for a fourth grade teacher.” A former student who attended Barb’s retirement celebration called her “one of those truly special teachers that really made a difference in my life.” Barb married Elmer T. Perala on Apr. 5, 1980. Elmer brought Barb an appreciation for the Finnish culture and two wonderful stepdaughters. She immediately welcomed Elmer’s siblings, children and grandchildren into her life and they became family to her. Barb was an avid golfer and put many a man to shame with her drives on the golf course. She loved her backyard swimming pool, where she entertained friends and relatives alike. She enjoyed her daily sauna, cooking and baking Norwegian krumkake. With Elmer’s influence, she acquired a great interest and knowledge of the Packers. She hosted many friends and relatives for Packer weekends in Green Bay, many of which became annual events. Barb and Elmer raised three yellow labs (Golda, Libby & Ellie) that became the central focus of their lives. Barb was especially bonded to Ellie after Elmer’s passing in 2014. Barb was a warm, wonderful and generous person who always put others before herself. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and past students. Barbara is survived by brothers, Bill (Martha) and Dave (Donna) Klinner; sister, Ann (Jon) Anderson; and 8 Klinner family nieces and nephews. eader 1961-2 022 Thomas “Tweety” Leader, age 61 of Medford, town of Holway, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 16, 2022 after a courageous battle with lung cancer while under the care of Hope Hospice. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 22 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, with Fr. Jayanna Kanna officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Little Black. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Tweety was born Apr. 11, 1961 in Medford to Agnes (Kraemer) and Edward Leader Jr. He graduated from Medford High School, class of 1980. He resided in Medford and worked for Jochimsen Inc., then Weather Shield and finally for Peterson Construction for many years until he retired in 2017. He then worked for a short time at Meyer Mfg. until his illness no longer allowed him to work. Tweety was also a volunteer fireman for Stetsonville for many years. He loved spending time outdoors and was a member of the Pine Creek Riders Snowmobile Club; and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. His favorite place to hunt was Minong, Wis. He will be dearly missed by his wife Jean; daughter, Mariah, both of Medford; father, Edward (step-mother, Connie) Leader of Birchwood; siblings, Kathy (Wally) Thom of Birchwood, Deb (Jim) Fleischmann of Steuben, Cindy (William “Pip”) Gilgenbach of Mission, TX, Tim (Jessie) Leader of Grand Meadow, Minn.; step-siblings, Colleen (Mike) Wenzel, Las Vegas, Nev., and Al (Vi) Helland, Denmark, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
