Leslie Shepard

Leslie Shepard

Leslie Shepard Leslie P. Shepard, 82, Greenwood, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at Marshfield Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Rev. Elizabeth Bier officiated, and burial followed in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Loyal. Leslie Phillip Shepard was born on May 16, 1937, near the village of Downing in the town of Tiffany, Dunn County, the son of Edward J. and Helen E. (nee Danovsky) Shepard. He was raised on a farm, received his education in the Downing area, and then moved to Owen as a young man. Leslie lived at Pabich Adult Family Home for almost 30 years, and his entire adult life in Clark County. He worked at Adult Development Services in Greenwood for 25 years, retiring in 2015. Leslie was a kind, gentle man who loved his home and his many friends who were his extended family. Leslie previously belonged to the all-denomination Bible class that was held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the Clark County bowling group, Explorer Scouts, and Aktion Club. He loved life and had many interests, especially fishing, traveling, going out to eat, shopping, playing kings corners, and many other activities. He also colored in adult coloring books and turned out beautiful pictures. He loved working on the hobby farm helping to raise beef cattle, and was amazed by the tractors, combines, and the huge choppers they have these days. When outside, he would wave to everyone who went by. Leslie wasn’t a talker; he was the observer, and in his own way, that’s how he navigated life. He will be dearly missed. Leslie is survived by three sisters: Sharon Shepard of Vadnais Heights, Minn., Eunice (John) Denning of Racine, and Judith (Jim) Leffler of Tipton, Ind.; two brothers: Gerald (Sandra) Shepard of Birchwood, and Gene Shepard of Kingman, Ariz.; nieces, nephews and other relatives; everyone served by Pabich’s Residential Facility; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Shepard. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cuddiefh.com. Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
