Lee Meacham

Lee Meacham


Lee A. Meacham, 71, Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020. Private family services with military rites were held at West Spencer Cemetery. Lee was born on May 24, 1949, in the town of Unity, Clark County, to Vernon and Violet (nee Kyne) Meacham. He graduated from Loyal High School in 1968. On Feb. 25, 1969, he was united in marriage to Doris Fleischman in Spencer. They were blessed with three children: Melissa, Melanie, and Nick. He enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1968 and served at Miramar Naval Air Station, San Diego, Calif., and on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1972 as an aviation structural mechanic (hydraulic) Petty Officer 2nd Class. Lee and Doris farmed in the town of Unity for 25 years and while farming he also worked as a welder at Felker Brothers Co., Marshfield. After leaving the farm, Lee also worked as a custodian for the Loyal School District, Grove Elementary School in Wisconsin Rapids, and retired from his custodial career while employed at East Junior High School in Wisconsin Rapids. Lee was a former member of the Spencer Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed going for walks, woodworking, and tending his many flower beds. He was known for frequently stopping at garage sales and could spend hours searching the internet for the perfect sale. He had a knack for accumulating a wide assortment of oddities, which included die cast tractors and farm implements, cuckoo clocks, coin changers, and A& W mugs. He loved spending time with family and was especially proud of his children and grandchildren. He was a very hard worker, a talented whistler, and had a great (although dry) sense of humor. Lee is survived by his wife, Doris; two daughters: Melissa (Jamie) Gripentrog of Marshfield, and Melanie (Adam) Hunter of Sparta; a son, Nick (Shanna) Meacham of Bangor; six grandchildren: Kayley Gripentrog, Cassie Gripentrog, Kari Hunter, Lizzie Hunter, Gavin Meacham, and Allyson Meacham; and his siblings: Christine Burn of England, Cherry (Pat) Kaboskey of Mukwonago, Lynn (Pam) Meacham of Willard, Denise (Tom Hakes) Meacham of Boyd, and Dana (Kim) Meacham of Marshfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elaine; and a granddaughter, Caitlyn Hunter. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, assisted the family with arrangements. Wayne Scheel

Wayne Scheel


Wayne R. Scheel, 63, Loyal, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at Marshfield Medical Center, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 15, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Visitation will be held at the church, on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until time of service. Pallbearers will be Paul J. Bugar, Paul Brostowitz, Paul Hoesly, Dean Hoesly, Glenn Parks and Russell Tremelling. Rev. Leo Johnson will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery, with a meal to follow at the Loyal Sportsmen’s Club. Wayne Ralph Scheel was born on Sept. 11, 1956, in Waukesha, to Wayne and Patricia (nee Noziska) Scheel. He attended grade school at a little school on the outskirts of Waukesha, and graduated from Waukesha High School in 1974. Wayne started working when he was 12 years old, at Ray’s Auto in Elm Grove on weekends, washing and painting walls, gassing up cars and servicing them. After high school, he started working as a mechanic and worked at Peck’s Meat Packing in Milwaukee, on trucks, trailers, cars and pickups. Wayne then worked for Waukesha Truck Sales, and then for KS& S Enterprises (King Sales & Service) in Menomonee Falls. In addition, he went to work for Ernie Butterfield (Butterfield Trucking), and also for Weber Trucking Service, and Ace Redi-Mix. In 1995, Wayne came to Loyal and in October 1995, he began working at Paul Bugar Trucking Inc., and he remained working there until the time of his death. He was a very talented heavy truck and equipment mechanic/technician. Wayne was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith on April 19, 2003, at St. Anthony Church in Loyal. Wayne was united in marriage to Susann M. Bugar on Oct. 11, 2003, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and had many interests, which included spending time with his wife and extended family, especially his nieces and nephew, Nicole, Danielle and Paul Hoesly, who had a special place in his heart. Wayne is survived by his wife, Susann, of Loyal; his children: John and Donald; his mother: Patricia Scheel of Greenwood; one brother: Scott (Connie) Scheel of Greenwood; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Paul J. Bugar, Mary (Dean) Hoesly, Lawrence (Lois) Brostowitz, Barbara (Christopher) Kluck, Joanne (Bill) LaBarge, Peter (Denise) Brostowitz, Leonard (Vicki) Brostowitz, Mark (Suzan) Brostowitz, Roxanne Miller, Suzanne Ebert, Paul Brostowitz, Diane Brussow, and Polly Ann Thomas; two nieces: Nicole and Danielle Hoesly; and three nephews: Paul Hoesly, Craig (Christine Rall) Scheel and Cody (Katie) Scheel. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Scheel, on April 23, 2018; and inlaws: Ceceilia Bugar on Jan. 19, 1971, Paul R. Bugar, on March 3, 2007, and Barbara Bugar, on Feb. 20, 2017. Helen L. Severson, 92, Loyal, passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, at Marshfield Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 14, at Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood. Rev. Geoff Smith and Rev. Dave Sommerfeld will officiate, and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Rich Much, Glynda Gosse, Jason Severson, Travis Severson, Tim Thomas and Ian Floyd Jr. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Helen Lorraine Thomas was born on Dec. 18, 1927, in the town of Bern, Marathon County, to Melvin M. and Altah A. (nee Sischo) Thomas. She was raised and received her education in Clark County, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1946. Helen married Lester W. Severson on June 8, 1946, at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood. She farmed with her husband and raised their family in the town of Beaver. After selling the farm later in life, they built their current home on 80 acres. She was married to her husband, Lester, for 71 years until his passing on Oct. 26, 2017. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends, sewing, cooking, baking, and playing cards. Helen will be dearly missed by her children: Kathy (Richard) Much of Greenwood, Dale (Kathy) of Curtiss, and Richard of Loyal; her daughter-in-law: Joan Severson of Greenwood; 14 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; one brother: Dale (Crystal) Thomas of Greenwood; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Edward Ule


Edward R. Ule, 94, Eau Claire, formerly of Willard, died on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Willard, with Rev. Leo Johnson officiating. Edward R. Ule was born on Aug. 9, 1925, in Willard, to Joseph and Mary (nee Lovko) Ule. He was raised on the family farm in Willard and received his education at North Willard School. After graduation, he began farming on the home farm on the east side of the mound in Willard. After selling the farm, Ed completed a correspondence course with the DeVry University of Chicago. He then settled in Minnesota where he attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1982 with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. Ed worked for MACO Electric and later for Honeywell, where he retired after 26 years. Upon his retirement, he moved to Angels Camp, Calif., where he built a home. He worked for MCM laboratories traveling to many areas including France, Paris and China. Ed enjoyed gardening and planted many fruit trees in his yard. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time skiing in Colorado, mountain climbing in California, and was a ham radio operator, which kept him in touch with his friends. Survivors include his sister, Alice Braun of Colby, and many nieces and nephews. Edward ‘Ed’ Webster

Edward ‘Ed’ Webster


Edward was born on Oct. 12, 1972, in Manila, Philippines. He contracted polio at a young age and because his mother was unable to care for him he was placed in an orphanage and later adopted by Ronald and Pauline (nee Canfield) Webster of Granton. Edward graduated from Granton High School in 1992 and went on to college at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C., where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science and biology. He worked in the pharmacy industry and with prosthetic patients for several years before returning to school to pursue his nursing degree. He later began his nursing career in a nursing home and returned to school where he earned his LPN license and was currently still pursuing a degree as an RN. He was employed by Southpointe Healthcare and Rehab at the time of his death, as an LPN. Edward was passionate about caring for the residents and was much loved by his co-workers. Edward met and married his wife Christy Evans Webster and he gained two sons, Dylan and Ryan Beddingfield. They later had a daughter, Dannie Grace, who was his “little princess.” He was a devoted husband and father. Edward was a determined man who always strove to improve his circumstances in any way that he was able. He loved politics, fishing, and spending time at the ocean with his family. He had a passion for Christian outreach, and especially enjoyed doting on his beloved daughter. He was a strong Christian and a devoted member of Rocky Creek Baptist church in Greenville, S.C., and had complete faith that if God should decide to take him home, he was ready to go. Edward will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Edward is survived by his wife, Christy, and daughter, Dannie Grace Rebecca Webster, at home; sons Dylan and Ryan of Greenville, S.C.; his parents, Ronald and Pauline (Canfield) Webster of Granton; his sisters, Amber and Scott Barnes of Becker, Minn., Grace Lee of Chippewa Falls; Maylee and Marc Peck of Granton, and Alice Painter of Granton; a brother, Jae Webster of Minneapolis, Minn.; his dog, Harley; and many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents. Edward Charles “Ed” Webster, 47, Pelzer, S.C., formerly of Granton, passed away due to complications from COVID- 19 on Saturday, July 25, 2020. A memorial service was held at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church in South Carolina on Sunday, Aug. 9. An additional memorial service will be held at the Granton Community Center in Granton, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 22, with a lunch following the service. Marla J. Hendrickson, 67, Loyal, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Per Marla’s request, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Red Door Saloon in Loyal. Marla Jean Williams was born on Nov. 12, 1952, in Cudahy, the daughter of Earl and Doris (nee Dahl) Williams. She was raised and received her education and graduated from Oak Creek High School in 1970. After completing high school, Marla worked at AC Delco and Briggs & Stratton in Milwaukee. In 1976, she moved to Loyal, where she worked at the Loyal IGA and owned Chromey’s Corner Pub. She was united in marriage to Blaine A. Hendrickson on Oct. 19, 1992, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. Marla later worked in Marshfield at Festival Foods and Pizza Hut, and retired from Nelson Jameson in 2012, after 25 years of employment. She then purchased and ran Rumours Supper Club in Loyal. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with family and friends, riding Harleys, watching movies, and sitting on the deck enjoying the fire. Marla will be dearly missed by her husband, Blaine, of Loyal; two daughters: Kim (Nate) Hauge of Loyal, and Kristi (Jeremy Young) Chromey of Loyal; a step-daughter: Erin (JJ) Cassie of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; two grandchildren: Brent Hauge and Abbie Leichtman; a step-grandchild: Ezra Cassie; two great-grandchildren: Kendyll and Kye Hauge; three brothers: David (Jeanie) Williams of Loyal, Keith Williams of Medford, and Kevin “Spanky” Williams of Marshfield; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Evelyn L. Lynn, 96, died on Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Waterford Assisted Living in Colby. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spencer, with Rev. Gary Froseth officiating. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Evelyn Greening was born on Oct. 3, 1923, in the town of Bloomfield, Waushara County, to Paul and Lydia (nee Krause) Greening. Evelyn left home at a young age and worked for room and board in Unity. She was a graduate of Unity High School. Evelyn and Rudy were married on June 26, 1943. They farmed until 1967. Evelyn worked at Gamble Stores in Colby and Spencer. After retirement, they moved to Phillips and enjoyed the life on the lake. Evelyn later married Wayne Missling on July 18, 2002. They were later divorced. Evelyn enjoyed going to the casino. She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spencer and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Phillips. Evelyn is survived by her children: Terry Lynn of Meza, Ariz., Ron Lynn of Wilson, and Marsha (Bill) Martens of Spencer; her grandchildren: Elisabeth and David Lynn, Aaron (Christy) Lynn, Becky (Justin) Born, Jenny (Rich) Nieman, Jodi (Dan) Pilsner and Jason Martens; her great-grandchildren: Sullivan and Connelly Born, Lizzy and Katie Lynn, Rudy Nieman and fiancée Amanda Pekarek, and Leah, Lydia and Rachel Nieman; a great-great-granddaughter, Adeline Nieman; four sisters: Eleanor Coop, Anita Hein, Dorothy Konop, and Beverly (Don) Sleeter; and one brother-in-law, Keith Donovan.
