1936-2021 Raymond “Ray” H. Henrichs, 85, of the town of Browning passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford. A memorial mass for Ray took place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial followed at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, with military honors performed by Medford Honors Team. Visitation took place at Hemer Funeral Home - Medford Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021 from 4 p.m. until the time of a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation continued at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of mass at 11 a.m. Ray was born on June 19, 1936 to Hubert and Mary (Werner) Henrichs, in Medford; he was the eighth of 14 children. He graduated from Medford High School in 1954. His first job was as a milk truck driver for Art Albright. He started working for Medford Co-op in 1958 at the feed mill and fertilizer plant. He was drafted in 1959 and was in the Army until September 1962. He returned to the Co-op and retired in 2006. He then worked part time in the propane department for eight more years. He married Mary Piller in 1963 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church; she survives. Ray enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing softball, and getting together with family and friends. In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his sons, Craig (Jessica) of Stetsonville and Jamie (Tami) and Ryan, both of Medford; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Carol), Peter (Esther), David (Lorrain), Jim (Mary); sisters, Mary Ann Henrichs, Rita (Harold) Rudolph, Loretta Fischer, and Carol (Eldor) Buenning; brother-in-law, Jim Bains; sister-in-law, Rose Henrichs. Ray is further survived by other family and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Nicholas, and Norbert; two sisters, Imelda and Karen. Randy “Bubba” Lukes


1961-2021 Randy “Bubba” Lukes, 60, of Medford passed away at his home on Nov. 10, 2021. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 15 at the Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home, 304 N. Avon Ave, Phillips, WI, 54555. A visitation was on Sunday, Nov. 14 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Heindl Funeral Home and again on Monday, from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service was in the Catawba Cemetery, Catawba. He was born on Jan. 21, 1961, to Gerald and Esther (Wroblewski) Lukes in Phillips. Bub was a jokester with a passion for old cars, particularly old MOPAR muscle. He knew what classic cars were sitting in which fields in a 100-mile radius! He did not like pictures but most of the ones he did take, he liked to make a silly face. If you told him, you had your heart set on cheese curds he was sure to make a few fibs that they just ran out of them. He was known to make a few inappropriate but funny comments. He loved spoiling kids with candy and treats, even if he had to sneak it to them when their parents were not looking. If you didn’t see him in shorts, you knew he had to dress up for something, but they were usually close by to change into. He had a comforting presence that will be truly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Michelle (Tulpan); son, Justin; sisters, Louis (Ray) Newstrom, and Sandy (Jim) Jensen; brother, Jeff; many nieces and nephews; a mother and father-in-law, Judy and Tennes Tulpan; brothers-in-law, Brian Tulpan, Dennis (Corrie) Tulpan; Stacy (Caron); sisters- in-law; Brenda Tulpan, Laura (Michael) Ellis, Denise Tulpan; Tammy Thums; and many loved ones and friends. 1945-2021 Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, fishing, camping, sewing, baking, loved her chickens, and riding in their Hudson, but most importantly she cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mary is survived by her husband, Gerald of Dorchester; children, Debra (Jeff) Jacobson of New Richmond, Sandra (Chris) Malovrh of Medford, Kimberly (John) Drolshagen of Medford, Kelly (James) Larson of Deer Park, Glen (Amanda) Gonnering of Mosinee; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Evan) Sarauer of New Auburn, Erica Nikkila of Wausau, Amber Drolshagen of Spencer, Elizabeth Jacobson of Avon, Minn., Lawson Emerson of Wausau, Carter Larson of Deer Park, Harper Larson of Deer Park, Kymber Gonnering of Mosinee and Lainey Gonnering of Mosinee. She is further survived by her siblings, Jim Meyer of Medford, Sharon Bychinski of Reedsburg, Joanne Kroening of Edgar and Jeff Meyer of Medford; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Mary Ann Gonnering, age 76, of Dorchester passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021 surrounded by her loving family at her residence under the tender care of Hope Hospice. Mary was born on May 27, 1945, the daughter of Raymond and Harriet (Wesley) Meyer in the Medford Hospital. She graduated from Dor-Abby High School. Mary was united in marriage to Gerald Gonnering on May 22, 1965 at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. She worked as an assistant school cookserver and was a homemaker and a farmwife. 1964-2021 Charlene Karen (Ross) Acker, 57, of Gloucester, Mass., wife of Dennis J. Acker, Jr, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, Oct. 17, 2021 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, Mass., with Dennis at her side. for EVERY holiday, and attending Celtics games with Dennis, Maya, and Papa. Her greatest joy was becoming a loving and devoted Mum to her daughter Maya Xian. Bringing Maya Xian home from China in 2002 was the greatest achievement of her lifetime. The bond between Maya and Charlene was a bond that was an inspiration to our entire family and will never be forgotten by any who witnessed it. The bond grew stronger during this past school year as UConn converted all classes online due to COVID-19, which meant more time together at home. Charlene’s caring demeanor, big heart, and her ability to always be there for family and friends will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her husband Dennis of 30 years; daughter Maya Xian; and father LeRoy all of Gloucester, Mass., she is survived by her father and mother-in-law Dennis Sr. and Nancy Acker of Medford; brother-in-law Brian (Elise Krohn) Acker of Schofield; sisters-in-law Dana Acker and Heidi (Jeff) Krause of Medford; nieces Kierra (God-daughter), Autumn, Kyla Krause all of Medford, Michayla Acker of Montello and Kylie Krohn of Schofield; nephews Bradley Acker of Misawa Air Base, Japan, Nick Krause of Medford and Kolton Krohn of Schofield; along with many cousins in Wisconsin and Massachusetts. Charlene was born in Gloucester, Mass., on Jan. 21, 1964, to LeRoy W. and the late Carolyn T. (Santos) Ross. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Good Voyage Church and was married there to her husband Dennis on May 4, 1991. She grew up on Gloucester’s Portuguese Hill neighborhood and was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1982. She received her Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting from Assumption College in 1986. After graduating, Charlene worked for State Street Bank in Boston and then for Gloucester Bank & Trust. When Maya was a student at St. Ann School, Charlene worked many positions there until it closed in 2013. 1924-2021 Frances E. Hemmer, 96, of Medford died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 at Aspirus Care and Rehab. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Frances was born Nov. 20, 1924 in Chicago to Frank and Kitty (Spencer) Klecka. She graduated from Harper High School in Chicago. On June 1, 1946, Frances married Gilbert Hemmer in Chicago. After their marriage, they farmed in Iowa until 1964, then moved to the Stetsonville area. They dairy farmed for 66 years, retiring in 1990. Frances enjoyed going to the casino, watching the birds, crocheting, knitting and especially loved to spend time with her family. Frances is survived by five sons, Ken (Tomi), Ed (Jeannie), Paul (Nancy), all of Medford, Ron (Rondi) of Owen, and John (Connie) of Stetsonville; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert on Nov. 29, 2012; siblings, Eleanor in infancy, Helen Doyle and Ed Klecka; grandson, Jason Hemmer; and a great-granddaughter, Charlee Hemmer. Allen Eugene Scheithauer

Allen Eugene Scheithauer


1944-2021 Allen Eugene Scheithauer, 77, of Rib Lake died on Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, while surrounded by his loving family at Aspirus Hospital in Medford, just 18 days after his wife Linda passed. pitch softball and fast pitch softball (all men’s leagues). He played on the Interwald baseball team and loved the Brewers. He was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed NASCAR, boxing, and even boxed while in the military. Allen also enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. For many years they had three large gardens and shared their vegetables with everyone. His late wife, Linda, once noted that Allen would have rated up there with the master gardeners. Linda added that Allen was also a self-taught electrician. He worked on small electrical projects and did most of the plumbing in their home. Allen also built his own wood splitter that he often lent to family and friends. Both Allen and Linda enjoyed feeding and watching the hummingbirds by their home. Allen loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. One of his sisters stated that Allen was the “family clown”. He had a lot of fun with his friends and family and valued those memories. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. C, town of Greenwood, Rib Lake. Military honors by the United States Marine Corps and the Medford Area Military Honors Team followed. Burial was in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He was born on Sept. 19, 1944, in Medford to Marcella (Jarchow) and Joseph Scheithauer. He attended the Rib Lake Area Schools. His first job was working for Earl Wager doing masonry work. He then went to work in Milwaukee, building bridges. On Sept. 11, 1965, he married Linda Bleck in Rib Lake. Linda gave birth to their first child, Bryan Lee Scheithauer, who was born prematurely and sadly passed away just hours after birth. Allen was then drafted into the military, and the couple moved back to Rib Lake. Allen entered the Marine Corps Jan. 3, 1966, and was sent to Vietnam in June of 1966 as a machine gunner in Vietnam, fighting on the frontlines. Allen received a shrapnel wound on April 7, 1967 while on patrol against the Viet Cong in Vietnam. He was treated at DaNang field hospital and transferred to the hospital at Great Lakes, Ill. He spent three months in the hospital but could come home on the weekends. Allen was then stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina as a Military Police Officer. Corporal Scheithauer’s service ended in January of 1968 and he was awarded a purple heart for his injury. Shortly thereafter, Allen began working at Great Northern Cabinetry driving truck. He then worked for Blount Inc. in Prentice, working there for 37+ years as a welder, welding end loaders and other logging equipment. Allen enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, slow Brahmer. 1933-2021 Betty A. Clarke, of Perkinstown, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 at her residence. Funeral services for Betty were held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18 at Hemer Funeral Home – Medford with Pastor David Clements officiating. Visitation took place at Hemer Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Betty was born on Nov. 14, 1933 to Albert and Iola (Westrich) Meyer in Perkinstown. She was a graduate of Medford High School. She married Lowell Clarke on Aug. 22, 1953; he survives. While Lowell was stationed in El Paso, Texas, Betty became a CNA and worked at hospitals and nursing homes throughout her life. She was also a cook at Our House for many years and an Avon Lady. Most of all she will always be remembered as a wonderful homemaker. Betty was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, an active member of the Perkinstown Community Church, the Red Hat Society, and American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed camping, sewing, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She was famous for her homemade pancakes and deviled eggs. In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her children, Susan (Dwight Stevens) Dassow of Medford, Cynthia (Kevin) Krejci of Wausau, and Aimee (Lawrence) Williams of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Nikki (Paul), Wade (Patsy Gumz), Kelly, Keisha (Andy), Kolden, Kimara, Sebastien, and Rua; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Trinity, Grace, Aiden, Chloe, Jordyn, Addison, Brooklyn, Harper, Christian, and Beau; siblings, Harvey, Jerry (Nancy), and Patty (Clement) Johnson. 1929-2021 Ervin E. Schmidt, 92, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 at Country Gardens. A memorial service will held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Daniel Iwinski officiating. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen II. Visitation will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. followed by military honors performed by the Medford Military Honors Team. Ervin was born on June 25, 1929 to John and Frieda (Fisher) Schmidt in Medford. He attended Wayside School in the town of Hammel. He worked on the family farm and as a logger. He served in the US Army from 1953 – 1955. While in the service he took basic courses in mechanics and mountaineering. After his service he attended a short course on farming and farmed the family farm for 40 years. He was also carpenter for many years. He married Delores Hoeve on Sept. 8, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church; she survives. In his spare time, Ervin enjoyed making wood crafts, fishing, dancing, and gardening. In addition to his wife, Ervin is survived by his children, Wayne (Kathy) Schmidt, Debra Schmidt, Gail (David) Faber, Dawn (Patrick) Janko, Darla (Rodney) Mueller, and Melody (Daniel) Kuenne; grandchildren, John Giffiths, Jennifer Rosenburg, Jeremy and Corey Faber, April Byrd, Jamie Syryczak, Christopher Syryczak, Travis and Lucas Mueller, Amanda Meyer, Samantha and Tabitha Kuenne; 16 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat- grandchildren; siblings, Roy Schmidt, Louise Piller, Gloria Spreen; sister-in-law Christine Schmidt.
