Evelyn L. Lynn, 96, died on Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Waterford Assisted Living in Colby. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Spencer, with Rev. Gary Froseth officiating. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Evelyn Greening was born on Oct. 3, 1923, in the town of Bloomfield, Waushara County, to Paul and Lydia (nee Krause) Greening. Evelyn left home at a young age and worked for room and board in Unity. She was a graduate of Unity High School. Evelyn and Rudy were married on June 26, 1943. They farmed until 1967. Evelyn worked at Gamble Stores in Colby and Spencer. After retirement, they moved to Phillips and enjoyed the life on the lake. Evelyn later married Wayne Missling on July 18, 2002. They were later divorced. Evelyn enjoyed going to the casino. She was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Spencer and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Phillips. Evelyn is survived by her children: Terry Lynn of Meza, Ariz., Ron Lynn of Wilson, and Marsha (Bill) Martens of Spencer; her grandchildren: Elisabeth and David Lynn, Aaron (Christy) Lynn, Becky (Justin) Born, Jenny (Rich) Nieman, Jodi (Dan) Pilsner and Jason Martens; her great-grandchildren: Sullivan and Connelly Born, Lizzy and Katie Lynn, Rudy Nieman and fiancée Amanda Pekarek, and Leah, Lydia and Rachel Nieman; a great-great-granddaughter, Adeline Nieman; four sisters: Eleanor Coop, Anita Hein, Dorothy Konop, and Beverly (Don) Sleeter; and one brother-in-law, Keith Donovan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudy; a son, Dale; four sisters: Adeline Seefeldt, Irmgard Best, Lois Donovan, and Arlene Kroening; one brother, Marvin Greening; and her former husband, Wayne Missling. LeRoy Kesler, 82, Ramsey, Minn., formerly of Greenwood, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at North Memorial Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stephens Catholic Church, Anoka, Minn., at 11 a.m., on Thursday, July 30. A graveside burial service officiated by Rev. Leo Johnson will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greenwood at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 1. The Greenwood American Legion Post 238 will provide military rites. Family and friends are welcome to attend. LeRoy was born on Jan. 4, 1938, in Colby, to Oliver and Marie (nee Gierl) Kesler. He lived and attended school in Greenwood, and was united in marriage to Joanne Tolaney on June 4, 1960, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years and a lifetime member of the Greenwood American Legion Post 238. He was also a member and past president of the Loyal Rotary Club. LeRoy was self-employed in painting, remodeling and construction for more than 50 years, as well as operating Black River Campers and Greenwood Campers in the 1970s. They moved to the Minneapolis area in 1985, where he continued in construction and home building until his retirement due to ill health. Survivors include his wife, Joanne, of 60 years; four children: Alicia Sterzinger of Robbinsdale, Minn., Lori (Mark) Gregorich of Spencer, Raymond Kesler of Lancaster, Calif., and Theresa Fisher of Champlin, Minn.; 14 grandchildren: Erin (Tahzeeb) Hirji-Walji, Sara (John) Wroblewski, Christopher (Gwenna) Sterzinger, Hannah (Paul Downing) Sterzinger, Jonna Sterzinger, Alex (Allison Buelow) Sterzinger, Jennifer Sterzinger, Kaitlyn Sterzinger, Brett (Caitlin) Gregorich, Melanie (Tjaden Brostowitz) Gregorich, Joseph Kesler, Antonio Kesler, Zachary Fisher, and Alexa Fisher; eight great-grandchildren: Kaden, Levi, Hunter, Bennett, Harlow, Rexton, Me’Ryah, and Thomas; two brothers: Richard (Sandra) Kesler of Zimmerman, Minn., and David (Barbara) Kesler of Watertown; and a sister, Sharon (Sven) Sandblom of Tucson, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant twin brother; brothers Oliver Jr. and James; and a great-granddaughter, Haven. Bernice M. Kalsow, 94, Neillsville, died on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at the Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 17, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Rev. Nathan Wilke will officiate. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. on Friday at St. John’s. Casket bearers will be Troy Zickert, Isaac Zickert, Joe Zickert, Joshua Thorson, Nathan Wortman, Kelly Reinart, Richard Reinart and Jacob Johnson. Bernice Mae Kalsow was born on Feb. 14, 1926, in the town of Weston, the daughter of Peter and Christina (nee Janecek) Boon. She received her education at Mound School and Neillsville High School and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran as a young lady. Bernice married Franklin Zickert, and they farmed for 43 years before Franklin passed away suddenly in 1986. They sold the farm in 1989, and Bernice moved to town, but continued to work at the hospital. She worked for Memorial Medical Center for 27 years. She married Donald Kalsow in 1990 and retired from the hospital in 1991. They both enjoyed camping and traveling and spent winters in Apache Junction, Ariz. They have many friends there as well as in other states. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Lutheran Ladies Aid, the Good Sam’s Camping Club, and was president of the senior center. Bernice enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends and family. She is survived by her children: Dennis Zickert of Lyndon, Ill., Linda Scharenbrock of Willard, Cindy Zickert of Greenwood, Beverly (Dale) Reinart of Neillsville, Barbara Johnson of Augusta, and Wayne Kalsow of Neillsville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a very dear friend, Joan Zickert. She was preceded in death by Don Kalsow and three very dear sons, Frank (age 67), Terry (age 32), and Rick (age 37); her parents; one brother, Merrill Boon; one sister, Gladys Boon; and a very dear daughter-in-law, Sue Zickert.
