1952-2023 Nancy Nikkila, 71, of Ogema passed away on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home, 284 Chestnut Street, Phillips, WI 54555. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the start of service. Interment will take place at Levitt Creek Cemetery. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family. She was born on March 28, 1952, to Raymond and Myrtle (Pearson) Levenson in Milwaukee. She started her career at BlueCross BlueShield in Milwaukee. She went up to Prentice, often to visit with family where she met her husband, Kenneth D. Nikkila. They were married in 1978 at First Lutheran Church in Ogema. She worked various jobs while raising their children. She retired from Little Black Mutual Insurance Company. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her flower garden, traveling, camping with her grandchildren, baking, spoiling her cat Fadro, and shopping were some of her favorite hobbies. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Diana), Kevin (Megan); grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Nash, Kendra, Kole, and Tucker; brothers, Raymond K. 1946-2023 Cornelius “Neil” Micke, 77, of Stetsonville, suffered a cardiac event in his home and passed away at Aspirus Medford on Aug. 7, 2023. Neil was born to Clarence and Anna (Stuttgen) Micke, on Feb. 26, 1946, in Stanley. He graduated from Gilman High School in 1964 and subsequently received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Master of Science from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Neil served in the United States Army from 19681970 and saw active combat in Vietnam. He achieved the rank of SPECIALIST 4 and was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart upon discharge for his service. Neil met and married his lifelong sweetheart while attending the University of Nebraska and they married in 1971. He managed the Iowa State and University of Missouri dairy farms before moving back to Gilman and settling on the home farm, Mile Away Swiss. There, Neil and Linda raised their beloved children, Jeremy and Rachel, and managed an internationallyknown herd of Brown Swiss until their retirement in 2004. In addition to farming, Neil was an active member in 4-H, parish, and community affairs, and continued those into retirement while also being involved in district and state level Knights of Columbus. While retired in Stetsonville, Neil enjoyed woodworking in his shop, wine-making, gardening, and sight-seeing all over the country with Linda in their RV. Neil was a wealth of knowledge on nearly every topic he studied and had a deep love for his family. He’s fondly remembered by many for dedication to his community and generosity to those around him. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Linda; his son and daughter in-law, Jeremy and Natalie Micke; his daughter and son in-law, Rachel and Sandy Allen; his grandchildren, Michael and Charlie Timmers; his extended grandchildren, Nayli Timmers and Kabri Jankovic; his step-grandchildren, Jaycie and Jordan Goheen; his sister, Sharon Hein; his sister-in-law, Jolanta Grzeszkowiak; his sisters-in-law, Connie and Melvin Oltmans, Pamela and Rod Clausen, Amy and Bruce Crouse, Anita and Clarke Evans, Margaret and Walt Maimon, Kathy and Greg Lloyd. 1929-2023 Logan W. Winger age 93 of Gilman, passed away peacefully surrounded by his granddaughters on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023 at Our House Assisted Living in Janesville. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until Noon Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023 at Henke- Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Funeral services followed at 12 Noon Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the funeral home with military rites following the service at the funeral home conducted by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. The family had request casual western wear for those able in attendance. Further services will be held at Noon Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023 at the Gilman Funeral Home, with Rev. Bev Thompson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Thursday. Interment will follow with Military Rites in the Perkinstown Cemetery, Taylor County, WI. Logan was born in Bloom Township, Richland County, on Nov. 19, 1929, the son of Fred and Edith (Salisbury) Winger. He grew up in Richland County where he attended school. Logan served in the U.S. Air Force from Oct. 31, 1950 to Nov. 5, 1954. While serving in the Air Force, he met the love of his life, Irmgard Polzin in Germany and they later married. Shortly after being discharged from the service, he went to work at the Janesville General Motors plant where he was employed for over 30 years until retiring in 1984. During this time, he and Irmgard resided in Albany. After retirement they moved to Perkinstown in Taylor County where he continued to reside until recently when he moved to Janesville to be near relatives and receive care for his failing health. Logan was an avid horseman and had been a member of Tri County Riders Horse Club. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was an outstanding craftsman at woodworking. He loved a good poker game and showed no mercy to his grandchildren at the poker table. Above all else, his main interest was his family, they were his pride and joy. 1949-2023 Andrew “Andy” Lotter Jr., 73, Athens, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, Aug. 14, 2023 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. 1951-2023 On the afternoon of July 27, 2023, Jim Yanko of Forsyth, Mo., after courageously battling cancer, ascended to the Lord with his cherished best friend & wife by his side. Although our hearts are broken, we are joyful that he is now free of suffering and celebrating in Heaven with his father Frank and mother Anna (Leonhard) Yanko and many dear relatives and loved ones. There will be a Celebration of Life at Zondlo’s Ballroom in Rib Lake, on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at 2 p.m. There will be a Mass in Jim’s name at Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, followed by a private interment at the Rib Lake Lakeview Cemetery. Jim will have a graveside memorial bench in his honor. Born Jan. 31, 1951, in Marshfield, the sixth of twelve children, is where Jim began a lifetime filled with love, laughter, a keen wit and a generous steady spirit. Jim graduated from Rib Lake High School. He excelled at basketball and baseball. His siblings were all jealous of Jim saying that he never needed to study. Learning just came natural to him all his life. Jim was a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Rib Lake. He tried his hand at road construction and then became a plumber under his uncle Gene’s tutelage in Rib Lake. Jim and wife Karen moved to Lake Mills, in the mid 80’s and raised their three daughters Carrie, Mia and Sara together. He coached girls’ softball for many years to support his girls and his love of baseball. Jim was very proud of each girls’ individual successes in life. Jim and Karen divorced in 1998. Jim continued his career as a Master Plumber and Project Manager for various plumbing and mechanical contracting organizations in Wisconsin. At one of those jobs in 2003 he met his soulmate Joyce (Ryan). Not wanting to rush into marriage they wed Sept. 20, 2013, after 10 years together. He retired in February 2017 from Harwood Engineering Consultants in Milwaukee, as a Plumbing Designer and Senior Project Manager. Jim and Joyce then moved from Lake Mills, to Forsyth, Mo., and together relished remodeling every inch of their ‘diamond in the rough’ in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Jim enjoyed following the Packers, Brewers, and all things Wisconsin Badgers (most of the time). Hunting season at the cabin he and brother Joe owned was his favorite outing of the year. He bowled in a league and played baseball for many years in Rib Lake and Lake Mills. He most loved cheering on and critiquing his grandchildren in all their endeavors with sports and life. Jim has left everyone who knew him with a smile from his dry wit and some lesson they learned just by watching him live within their space, even if only for a short while. 1934-2023 Myrna Mae Mauch 88, formerly of Jump River, passed away on June 9, 2023, at Aspirus Tivoli Community, Portage. A Celebration of Life with be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 19, at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Jump River. She was born July 1, 1934, the first child of the late George T. and Jessie Mae (Bromley) Mauch. She was raised in Sheldon and was valedictorian of the graduation Ladysmith High School Class of 1952. She attended the University of Chicago. She was employed at the State of Minnesota Department of Highways as a civil engineer. She decided to do a career change and enrolled in Logan College of Chiropractic in St Louis. She graduated in 1973 and became a licensed chiropractor in Wisconsin. She established her office in Holmen, in 1974 until her retirement. In 2006, she purchased land on the Jump River in the McKinley Township, Taylor County. Myrna had her house built on the lot, within 100 yards of the birth location of her mother, Jessie. In 2021 the first “Mauch Gathering” was arranged by Myrna as the matriarch. Survivors include younger brothers, Bart (Margaret) Mauch of Prairie du Sac, and Douglas Bruce (Gail) Mauch of Saugus, Mass. 1951-2023 Cary Oliver Reinhold, 71, passed away on May 6, 2023, in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from Medford High School in 1969, and after serving honorably in the Army, trained to become an electrician. After living in Alaska for 25 years, he relocated to Tacoma in 1999. He is survived by his children, Joseph Reinhold and Stephanie Markley; and grandson, Ross Reinhold, all of Anchorage, Ala. He is further survived by three brothers, Richard (Alvern) Reinhold, David (Mary Hammond) Reinhold, and Lawrence (Tanya Tan) Reinhold; and eight sisters, Judith Reinhold, Barbara Reinhold, Lois (David) Hoppe, Marlene (Fred) Grandinetti, Carol (Kenneth) Landry, Carolyn Reinhold, Kathleen Tonn, and Valerie (David Joyce) Reinhold.
