Eugen ___________________ Eugene E. “Gene” Rindfleisch, 89, Spencer, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer with Rev. James Groleau officiating. A private committal service will be held by the family at a later date. Family and friends were invited to gather at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the services. The honor of pallbearer belonged to his grandchildren, Michael Rindfleisch, Brandon Rindfleisch, Casie Schulz, Lacey Berres, Trisha Kloth, Erin Multerer, Amanda Linzmeier and Samuel Rindfleisch. Eugene was born to Ervin and Milda (Luepke) Rindfleisch on Nov. 15, 1933, in the town of Brighton, Marathon County. He attended Brighton School and was a 1951 graduate of Spencer High School. On Aug. 20, 1955, he was united in marriage to Marcella “Sally” Boe. He was a man of many trades. He started farming on his grandfather’s farm that was originally purchased in 1898. Eugene later bought that same farmstead in 1956. He was a milk hauler and was hauling milk before he had a driver’s license. He drove gravel trucks, drove a cattle truck to Equity Livestock in Stratford, drove a semi-truck for Modern Insulation and was a school bus driver. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, in which he held various positions through the years including church council member and elder. He was a volunteer on the Spencer Fire Department. He held the title of treasurer for the township of Brighton for 57 years. His granddaughter took the position when he retired in 2021. Eugene, of course, loved driving truck throughout his life and enjoyed bowling with family and friends. Those who will cherish his memory include loving wife, Marcella “Sally” Rindfleisch; his sons, Steven (Patty) Rindfleisch, Robert (Sandy) Rindfleisch, Gary (Mary) Rindfleisch and Dean (Karen) Rindfleisch; his grandkids, Michael (Tricia) Rindfleisch, Brandon (Wendy) Rindfleisch, Casie (Danny) Schulz, Lacey (Jon) Berres, Trisha (George) Kloth, Erin (Eric) Multerer, Amanda (Chris) Linzmeier and Samuel (Abigail) Rindfleisch; nine great-grandkids plus one expected yet this month (January 2023) and his sister, Gloria (nee Rindfleisch) Seefeld along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Milda Rindfleisch; his son, Douglas Rindfleisch; and his brother, James Rindfleisch. Ricky W. “Rick” Birkett, 63, Greenwood, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at his mother’s home in Greenwood. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Rev. Elizabeth Bier will officiate, and a private burial for the family will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Ricky Wayne Birkett was born May 3, 1959, in Milwaukee. He was adopted by Wayne and Verna Birkett as an infant. Rick’s family moved to Greenwood when he was 8 years old, where he attended Greenwood public schools and graduated from Greenwood High School in May of 1977. Rick was a great three-sport athlete all through high school. Rick continued to play baseball and softball every ball season. He married his first wife, Cindy Denk on Oct. 15, 1981. They had two daughters. They later divorced. Rick worked mostly at Greenwood Milk Products Co-op and later Weathershield in Greenwood. In 2005, Rick moved to North Haven, Conn., where he married his second wife, Susan Palange. Rick survived a traumatic car accident on Nov. 16, 2009, and was hospitalized for two years. He fought through the next 13 years with various health obstacles. Rick resided in Connecticut until his wife, Susan, died unexpectedly on Jan. 26, 2020. Rick moved back to Greenwood on May 7, 2020, and resided with his mother. Rick was an avid Brewers, Packers and Badgers fan. He is survived by his mother, Verna Birkett, Greenwood; two daughters, Brittan (Joe) Buettner of Cottage Grove and Elyse Birkett, Madison; three grandchildren, Roman, Noelle and Naomi Buettner; his sister: Darla (Scott) Abel, Greenwood; and many more extended family members. William W. Sisson, 98, Greenwood, passed away at Clark County Rehab and Living Center in Owen, on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022. A graveside service will be held at the Greenwood City Cemetery on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Asafa Rajaofera officiating. William Wallace Sisson was born on Aug. 17, 1924 in Milwaukee to George W. and Erna D. (Yunker) Sisson. Bill moved with his parents to the Greenwood area when he was a year old. He grew up on the family farm in the Town of Eaton, rural Greenwood, attended a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1943. Bill worked at the Badger Ordnance Works, near Sauk City, from 1944 to 1945. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947 and was stationed in Italy. When he returned home, he attended UW-Madison for two years and completed the Farming Short Course. Bill was united in marriage to Shirley M. Hecht on Aug. 28, 1960 at Frieden’s United Church of Christ in Bern, Kan. They lived on the family farm and he was a dairy farmer until retiring in 1981. Bill lived on the family farm for 97 years. He enjoyed traveling after he retired. His favorite trip was a three week trip to Europe with his niece, Linda, and her family, where he was happy to visit where he was stationed during his Army service in Italy. Bill had many interests, but especially enjoyed genealogy, antiquing, going to auctions, history, reading, sharing his knowledge of the Clark County area, and feeding and watching the birds and his cats brought him much joy. He also spent time volunteering at the Clark County Jail Museum for many years. Bill was always eager to share his knowledge of family and local history, and visit with his friends. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Bill is survived by one daughter, Naomi Jorgensen, Ada, Okla.; two grandsons, Neil Jorgensen, Denver, Colo., and Kai (Emmy) Jorgensen, Clarksville, Tenn.; his niece, Linda (Tom) Hett, Pewaukee; nephews, Larry (Nancy) Sisson, Newport, Vt. and Lon Sisson (Sue Roberts) of Racine; other relatives and friends. Cora Mae (Turnquist) Solberg, 85, Elk Mound, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022,in Eau Claire. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church, 6118 County Hwy. M, Elk Mound, with Pastor Hal A. Schroetter officiating. Burial will be in Big Elk Creek Lutheran Cememtery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at West Chapel location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire. Cora was born in Greenwood, to Carl and Evelyn Turnquist on May 12, 1937. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1955 and then Luther Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She married Larry Solberg on April 11, 1964, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood. She worked as an RN in Denver, CO, Berkeley, Calif., and Eau Claire, before becoming a home mom and farm wife. She enjoyed mowing her lawn, dancing the polka with Larry, painting and crafting, gardening, sewing, knitting afghans for her grandchildren, baking for and spending time with her family. There was always a pan of bars on the counter. She is survived by her spouse, Larry; children, Becky (Marty) Hallock, Aud (Troy) Stowell, Pete (Amy) Solberg, and Kurt (Wendi Bass) Solberg; grandchildren, Jonny (Robin) Hallock, Josh Hallock, Zach (Emalee) Stowell, Zandy (Markel) Stowell, Ari (Jake) Ovyn, Gabe Solberg, Isaac Solberg, Payton Solberg, Allana Solberg and Mikayla (Wyatt Britton) Solberg; and six great grandchildren, Harper, Grayden, Lincoln, Cora, Evie, and Reagan. She is also survived by her siblings, Hilda Dennison, Chet (Sue) Turnquist and Ed (Brenda) Turnquist; Larry’s siblings, David (Diane) Solberg, Arlyn (Joanne) Solberg and Tootie (Jim) Kragness; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry Stamp, 84, Greenwood, passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, after a short but fierce battle with cancer. A memorial service and celebration of life for Larry is being planned for the spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Methodist Church in Loyal, (109 W. Central Street, Loyal, WI 54446). Larry was born in Daily, Mich., on Nov. 29, 1938, the son of Dorothy and Joseph Stamp. Larry was a graduate of the Michigan State Short Course Farming program and Dowagiac Union High School. In 1960, he married Anne Kauffman and they raised four children in Michigan before moving to Wisconsin in the early 1980s. Moving to Wisconsin enabled Larry to fulfill his dream of owning and operating a dairy farm. He enjoyed all things “country” and was at his happiest while driving country roads listening to country music. He also enjoyed participating in the Jaycees in his early adult years, tractor shows, treasure hunting, and woodworking. He served several years as the treasurer of the Mid-State Metal Detecting Club. Larry was a retired farmer, but he quite often worked an additional job in conjunction with farming. He spent several years working at Rudy and Jessco in Dowagiac, Mich., testing cows for DHIA, and selling for Renk Seed and various other seed companies. Larry served his country for six years in the Air National Guard as a member of the aerial reconnaissance processing team. He is survived by his wife, Anne; three of his four children, Deb, Sandy and Allen; his grandchildren, Jamie, Katie, Lauren, Steffen, Justin, Jessi, Cole, Samantha and Nick; his sister, Penny; his sisters-in-law, Paula and Joan; and a brother-in-law, Bob. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Harold; his sisters, Jennie and Nancy; his brother, Tom; his brothers-in-law, Ed, Butch, Johnny and Jim; and his sisters-in-law, Kay and Alice. Allen J. “AJ” Hinker, 76, Greenwood, passed away at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood, with Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh officiating. Visitation will be conducted at the church on Thursday, Dec. 15, from 3-7 p.m., and again on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Military rites will be conducted by the Greenwood American Legion Post #238. Allen John Hinker was born on Sept. 14, 1946, in Greenwood, to Sylvester T. and Barbara O. (nee Pink) Hinker. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1964. After graduation, AJ enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard on Nov. 6, 1964, and served until his honorable discharge on Nov. 7, 1970. He was united in marriage to Sandra A. Fillipp on June 8, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. Over the years, AJ worked various jobs, first at Marshfield Homes and then for Peroshek Electrical in Greenwood. In 1967, he became employed with Christie Feed and Farm, where he worked for 18 years. In 1985, AJ purchased AJ Lindner’s Bar, and operated AJ’s Inn until 2000. He then worked for Leeson Motors until retiring in 2004. AJ was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Greenwood Fire Department for many years, and the Greenwood American Legion Post #238 for 52 years. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, bowling, fishing, hunting, trap shooting, watching the Packers, and taking care of his yard. AJ is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife, Sandra, of Greenwood; his children, Kari (John Cooper) Pongratz of Marshfield, and Mark Hinker of Greenwood; his grandson, Alex Pongratz of Marshfield; his sister, JoAnn Kaiser of Marshfield; his sisters-in-law, Marlene Hinker, Carolyn Hinker and Donna Hinker, all of Greenwood, Corrine Hinker of Marshfield, Audrey Hinker of Wausau, and Marilyn Hinker of Loyal; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, other relatives and friends.
