A big week for Gilman head football coach Robin Rosemeyer got more meaningful Monday with the announcement that he is on the list of inductees for the 2026 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame ceremony set for April 18 in Middleton.

Rosemeyer is among a class of 11 men slated for induction in the spring. He will be the second Gilman coach to be inducted into the WFCA Hall of Fame, following Duane Jenson, who was inducted in 2013. Medford’s Carl Alberti also was inducted in 2006.

This week also is All-Star week for the WFCA and Rosemeyer is serving as the head coach for the North 8-Player All-Stars, who will take on the South All-Stars Friday night at 6 p.m. at UW-Oshkoh’s Titan Stadium. Rosemeyer’s top assistant, Tom Tallier, is also on the staff for the third time in four seasons and 2024 Gilman seniors Joey Syryczuk and Chad Konsella are part of the North team.

Syryczuk was an All-North Central Conference East first-team offensive and defensive lineman in 2024. He also was a WFCA All-Region pick on the offensive line. Konsella was a first-team All-North Central Conference East running back and return specialist last fall. He ran for 468 yards and eight touchdowns on just 45 carries during the season. He also caught 10 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns, The North had its camp this week at UW-Stevens Point prepping for the game. The coaching staff includes Todd Roehl of Flambeau and Jordan Lablanc and Richard Croes of Clayton. Other players from the area on the North 8-Player team include David Andersen and Daniel Fritz of McDonell Central, Shay Denzine of Phillips, Colin Fritz, Mason Gay and Dominic Sherwood of Owen-Withee.

Rosemeyer is entering his 21st season as head coach in Gilman. This will be the program’s sixth season in 8-player football. The Pirates have been conference champions in three of those years and were a state semifinalist in 2021.

In 11-player football from 2005-19, Rosemeyer’s Gilman teams went 105-63 including conference championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010, won WIAA Division 7 state championships in 2006 and 2010 and went to the title game in 2005. Gilman’s teams went 25-7 in playoff games under Rosemeyer in 11-player football.

Rosemeyer also spent time as an assistant coach at Gilman, Cornell and Chippewa Falls before becoming Gilman’s head coach.

The list of 2026 Hall of Fame inductees includes Colby’s Jim Hagen, an assistant there for 25 years under Hall of Famers Duane Teska and Jeff Rosemeyer, Robin’s brother, and a head coach for six years.

Medford All-Stars

The Medford Raiders are also represented in All-Star week with running back Paxton Rothmeier and defensive end/tight end Alex Faude earning spots on the North squad that will take on the South in the WFCA Large Schools All-Star Game Saturday at 4 p.m., also in Oshkosh.

The team also prepped this week at UW-Stevens Point. Rob Salm of Appleton North is the North’s head coach. The game features many of the state’s top seniors from the 2024 season from Divisions 1-3.

Rothmeier was among the state leaders last fall with 2,696 rushing yards and 37 rushing touchdowns and was an easy choice as the Great Northern Conference’s 2024 Offensive Player of the Year. Rothmeier earned a first-team spot on the WFCA All-State team. He plans to continue playing football at UW-Eau Claire.

Faude was a unanimous first-team All-GNC choice on both sides of the ball and added WFCA All-Region honors for his play on defense. Faude had 36 total tackles, including five for loss, a sack, 22 solo tackles and a forced fumble in the during the 2024 season.

Mosinee lineman Jackson Lindell is the only other GNC representative on the North roster.

The Small Schools All-Star Game (Divisions 4-7) will kick off at noon Saturday. The games are an annual fundraising effort for Children’s Wisconsin that has raised nearly $5 million since its inception. This year, players and coaches from the six teams have raised more than $338,000 through early this week as part of their commitments to play in the all-star games. The goal for this year’s fund-raising effort is $400,000.

The 8-player game will be livestreamed by Zaleski Sports. The 11-player Small School and Large School games will be televised live and streamed by FanDuel Sports Wisconsin.
