Cadott School Board - Easement provides an electric access

It was agreed that an easement is the way to go, Aug. 11, for the Cadott School District, in regard to the Winger subdivision development, doing business as EW Real Estate. The proposed project needs access for electric to be supplied to the houses which will be constructed.
If it is approved by the village and the wording pleases the district attorney, a 24-foot easement will be in place. But, if construction does not take place by December of 2027, the sunset clause takes effect and the easement dissolves.
“It’s a benefit for the entire community and the school district,” said district administrator Josh Spaeth. “We need housing, we need families.”
Members also agreed that fundraising can begin for the softball field renovations, by community members, which includes a concessions building. The structure will be identical to the one at the baseball field, so they can use the same engineering plan.
Now that the upgrades around the softball area are nearing completion, the renovation project can begin in earnest.
“They wanted to start earlier, but I didn’t want to be fighting with grades,” said Spaeth.
The board also approved the Kobussen busing contract, at a 2 percent increase, for 13 routes, in which 512 students are transported.
“I think we’re doing well,” said Spaeth. Members also accepted the resignation of school board treasurer Kevin Roshell; third-grade teacher Kaylee Evergreen; finance director Gina Schneider; and girls basketball coach Ben Elbert.
Roshell stepped down, as his personal and professional priorities have shifted, and he needs to focus on other re- sponsibilities and commitments.
Serving on the board has been an honor, and I’m proud to have contributed to the important work of supporting our schools and community, wrote Roshell.
Board member Todd Rykal agreed to take over the treasurer position, while a candidate to replace Roshell will be interviewed and appointed to the board, at a special meeting, Monday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m., in the elementary library. Candidates can contact the school, if they are interested in consideration for the position, while previous interested individuals will be contacted about reapplying.
Members also approved the hire of finance director Danielle Mittermeyer; Hornet Care director/special education April Mathison; elementary special education teacher Kaylee Rudnick; first-grade teacher Jenny Knox; high school special education teacher Jenny Denzine; activities director Justin Karkula; middle/high school paraprofessional Maisy Haas; and assistant volleyball coach Makya Hetherington.
Spaeth also reported that the referendum construction is nearing completion, on time and on budget, although some equipment might arrive late for the tech ed center.
“They say it’s going to be done,” said Spaeth. “I believe we’ll be ready for students.”
