If you like collectible dolls, you are not alone, as a fundraiser is in the works, with proceeds going to the Holcombe Area Veterans Memorial. The matter was brought up at their May 7 meeting, with it made known that a group of ladies want to have raffles and maybe food to go along with the doll show.

“The people who do that are very into it,” said memorial chairman Jim Mataczynski.

There’s no date set for the show, with details yet to be hashed out.

“We kind of decided we’d maybe do that later in the year,” said Matacyznski. “It’s a fall weather thing.”

It was also talked about what do with the border between the legacy stones and driveway. Since the idea of a well was scrapped, there’s no sense to have the planned sod.

“Unless you want to carry buckets from the river,” said Mataczynski, who says they may decorate with stones instead. “We have a number of options on the table.”

Members were also informed that the first batch of legacy stone pavers will be laid down Saturday, May 24, at 9 a.m., at the memorial, with the public welcome.

For Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, flags go to half staff at dawn, then at 8 a.m., there will be a wreath laying ceremony.

“John and Carol Bell are our wreath bearers,” said Matazcynski.
