Cadott Village Board; Riverview Park ballfields have updates coming

After updating the dugouts at the West Riverview Park ballfield in 2019, the Cadott Youth Baseball Committee wants to make similar improvements at the field on the east side of the park. The group approached the Cadott Village Board July 19, to ask for their blessing and support with the updates.
Ben Folczyk, Cadott Youth Baseball Committee member, says the existing dugouts are a fence, roughly four feet tall, which they would like to remove. He says he will do his best to keep the fence in the best shape possible during removal, so it can potentially be reused sometime in the future.
Folczyk says the structures will be much the same as those on the west side of the park, including the color schemes, but with some tweaks, such as making it so people can come in both sides.
He says they are hoping to get the project underway as early as August.
“I have myself and a few other construc- tion personnel who will be donating our time to build it,” said Folczyk.
Down the road, Folczyk says he would like to concrete the inside of the dugouts.
After the discussion, village board members approved the updates.
Members also approved installing electric for a new scoreboard on the west park field. Folczyk says the current proposal is to put the board on the right-field side. He says they think they could pull power off a nearby light pole.
“That’s where I would ask the village to possibly supply the power to it,” said Folczyk, specifying a wire between the power pole and the scoreboard would be helpful. “Whatever they can’t, I will resource myself.”
Folczyk says he will work with Rolly Tichy, public works, to figure out the details of the project.
“Anything that helps out the park down there,” said Randy Kuehni, board member.
Folczyk says he has heard great things from opposing teams concerning the facilities and extended thanks for supporting the efforts. Board members said the youth baseball committee is deserving of thanks, too.
Floyd Hickethier, former Cadott resident, was also on hand during the meeting, to request the names of Cadott veterans be listed on the memorial in Riverview Park. Hickethier recalled there used to be an area on Main Street that listed every veteran from Cadott who served.
“You’ve got a lot of good people that served in the service and served Cadott, that are not on that plaque out there,” said Hickethier. “And I’d appreciate it if they’d be honored.”
Anson Albarado, board president, said they will take Hickethier’s comments into consideration.
The board also adopted an ordinance requiring a concrete apron abutting the curb and gutter for all driveway entrances to a street, following a first-reading and suspending the second reading of the ordinance.
