Annual meeting on tap for Jump River Electric Co-op

Jump River Electric Cooperative (JREC) has re-scheduled their 82nd annual meeting of its membership for Saturday, July 25, at the Ladysmith Lions Club Legacy Amphitheater, located at the Memorial Park in Ladysmith. The annual meeting has also been re-located to an outside venue to help ensure social distancing guidelines are followed.

Those attending will have a chance to win one of the five, $100 energy credits given away, along with the grand prize of a $700 energy credit. All members attending the meeting will receive a $10 energy credit (one per membership) and a door prize. Members must be present to win.

“This in-person meeting has been condensed and re-located, to make sure that we hold a safe and lawful meeting, that also follows all CDC and social distancing guidelines,” said James Anderson, general manager/CEO of JREC. “Safety is, and has always been, our priority at the cooperative. We know the most important thing we can do to help our community, is to keep our employees safe and healthy, so we can keep your power on.”

The meeting will include reports from the board president and the general manager/CEO. This meeting is for all JREC members to attend and participate in.

Registration for the meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the business meeting starting at 10 a.m. All voting for the election of three director seats, on proposed article and bylaw amendments, and on a proposed advisory resolution, can be done by casting an absentee ballot by July 24, or by casting a meeting-day ballot, prior to the start of the business meeting.

Absentee ballots can be mailed or dropped off, at the Ladysmith and Hayward offices, during normal business hours. Members can obtain an absentee ballot at either of the JREC offices, with proper identification, until 4 p.m., July 24.

If there is a question on balloting options, call the cooperative at 715-532-5524.

JREC is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation and if the cooperative needs to postpone the annual meeting, because of new CDC guidelines, they will do so. Meeting changes can be found at jrec.com.
