Well, 2019 is just about wrapped up, and here at the library, we’re already making plans for 2020. One of the first things happening is, we’re adding Saturday hours!

Doing so meant shuffling around our other open hours during the week, but we really hope the extra day to get in will encourage people to come check out everything we have to offer. The new hours will begin Monday, Jan. 6, when we open at noon.

The addition of Saturday hours, means we also have some new opportunities for programs. To start, in celebration of Slow Cooker Month, we’ll host a Slow Cooker Showdown Saturday, Jan. 11. You can register your slow cooked soup, chili or hotdish at the front desk through Monday, Jan. 6.

I haven’t decided what I’m bringing yet...but it will be tasty! Not a slow cooking chef? Not a problem; stop in with the whole family and vote on your favorites! We’ll have small prizes for favorites in each category.

The last thing I want to mention, is a special guest we’ll host just down the street at Rick’s Halfway Hall, Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 5 p.m. John Del Vecchio will host an informational seminar about the Wisconsin Advanced Directive. Del Vecchio is a lawyer, with offices in St. Paul, Minn., and Stanley, and has kindly donated his time to speak about this important topic.

Advanced Directive planning is suggested for anyone aged 18 and over. It covers the topics of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other end-of-life legal needs. This is a purely information session, with no need to buy or retain services from our guest.

A few changes on our calendar for 2020: Coffee & Coloring: Tuesdays, 11 a.m.; Cards & Coffee: Wednesdays, 11 a.m.; Craft-a-Longs: first Friday, 4 p.m.

Hope to see you soon!

Library Hours: Monday, Thursday and Friday, noon-5 p.m.; Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Sunday, closed.
