LEGO Block Party

The Magic of Isaiah

Library scavenger hunt

Calling all young detectives and treasure hunters! Come to the Marathon City Branch Library for a summer scavenger hunt. If you’re up to the challenge, drop in during open hours the week of July 28-Aug. 2. For more information, call 715-443-2775.

Brats & hot dogs

Cub Scout Pack 458 will be hosting a brat and hot dog sale at the Marathon Farmers Market on Thursday, July 31. The sale runs from 2-6 p.m. Proceeds will be used for camps, field trips, and other fees.

Family Story Times

Children ages 6 and under and their parents and caregivers are invited to the Marathon City Branch Library for Family Story Time on Thursdays over the summer. Library staff will read books, sing songs, and more during the 30 to 45 minute program. The regular story time schedule may get interrupted by special events on occasion. The next story time will be July 31, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Call 715-443-2775 for more information.

Legion Auxiliary

President Jenese Karlen called the July 10 meeting to order, with 13 members present. Opening meeting protocol was followed.

Fun Days – Only 37% of the volunteer slots have been filled for Fun Days hamburger stand. The link will be shared on Facebook to encourage members and non-members to sign up. The members agreed to have an entry in the Fun Days parade again this year to promote the unit and encourage new members.

Badger Girls State – Mylee Haehlke and Emma Love, the unit’s delegates, attended Badger Girls State. They offered to promote the program to eligible participants in 2026.

It was voted to:

â–  Donate $100 to Marathon City Heritage Center for their assistance with the Patriotic Art Fair.

â–  Donate $500 as a Hole-in-One sponsor of MAC golf outing.

â–  Discontinue the Christmas Cheer program. Rather, the unit will offer assistance through broader reaching programs.

■ Update authorized check signers on People’s State Bank account to accommodate the newly elected slate of officers.

Upcoming Events: Patriotic Art Fair – Art will be on display at The Copper Mug, Marathon City Heritage Center, and Pizza Market on July 15 andAug. 12. The Copper Mug is hosting a wine walk in conjunction with the Art Fair. Wine can be purchased at The Copper Mug starting at 5 p.m. both evenings.

After viewing art pieces at The Copper Mug, guests stroll to view art at Pizza Market and then finish at Heritage Center Park for the free outdoor concert. The concerts will be held indoors at The Copper Mug if there is inclement weather. The next meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Marathon Municipal Center.

Rib Falls HCE

Rib Falls HCE met July 9 at the home of Arlyn Heise. Refreshments and desserts were served.

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and Creed I. The roll call question was: What are five things you couldn’t live without?

The secretary’s report was given by Gloria Kreager and approved as read. Treasurer’s report was read by Judy Baeseman and approved as read.

The group made a donation towards those impacted by the Draeger house fire. Members are invited to their open house on Aug. 2.

For the group’s Community Project, members brought Bingo prizes that were delivered to Copperleaf Assisted Living in Marathon.

The next meeting, with a potluck dinner, will be at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Judy Baeseman Farm.

The meeting was closed with Creed II. Members sang “America the Beautiful,” and Happy Birthday was sung to Gloria Kreager while she opened her gift from her Secret Pal.

Members played Fruit Bingo, with all receiving prizes.

College notes

Hope Krautkramer has graduated with honors from UW-La Crosse with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy.

The following students have graduated from UW-Eau Claire with bachelor’s degrees: Austin Gadke, criminal justice; Alyssa Hall, communication sciences and disorders; Kaitlyn Kaiser, actuarial science; Lyndsay Pintor, management; Jaeden Strasser, marketing; and Andrew Studinski, nursing.
