Conference Player of the Year


Edgar senior pitcher and shortstop Jase Apfelbeck was awarded Marawood South Conference Player of the Year this spring after helping lead the Wildcats to the outright conference championship. He was a unanimous all-conference player for the third straight season after earning honorable mention all-conference as a freshman.
Wildcats alumni Connor Handrick was awarded Marawood South Conference Coach of the year. He has coached the Edgar baseball team to two of its three conference championships in school history. Handrick has also guided the high school baseball team to its only two state tournament appearances in 2023 and this year.
Apfelbeck led Edgar pitchers this season with a 9-3 record after Edgar’s 14-2 loss in five innings to Stevens Point Pacelli in the WIAA Division 4 state semifinal on June 17. Apfelbeck collected 40 hits in 88 at-bats this season including 28 singles, nine doubles, one triple and two home runs. He drew 17 walks while collecting 27 RBIs and scoring 36 runs. He had a .455 batting average and a .559 onbase percentage.
Edgar senior center fielder Dakota Ellenbecker was awarded unanimous first team all-Marawood South Conference for the first time this season after garnering second team all-conference last season. He had 25 hits in 73 at-bats this season including 19 singles, three doubles and three home runs. He drew 26 walks while collecting 21 RBIs and scoring 38 runs. He had a .343 batting average and a .537 onbase percentage.
Wildcats junior Lucas Stahnke made first team all-Marawood South Conference for the first time this season after earning second team all-conference his first two high school seasons. He collected 43 hits in 94 at-bats this season including 21 singles, 16 doubles, two triples and four home runs. He drew 11 walks and had 21 RBIs while scoring 35 runs.
Stratford senior second baseman Jack Tubbs was awarded unanimous first team all-Marawood South Conference during each of his four years in high school. He collected 29 hits in 62 at-bats this season including 15 singles, seven doubles and a home run. He drew 10 walks, stole 27 bases, had 11 RBIs and scored 26 runs. He had a .468 batting average and a .566 onbase percentage.
Tigers junior catcher Brady Berg made first team all-conference this spring. He made the most of his at-bats this season with seven singles, five doubles and three home runs. He drew 14 walks, stole 11 bases and had 23 RBIs. He had a .296 batting average and a .443 on-base percentage.

He collected 26 hits in 57 at-bats including 13 singles, seven doubles and two home runs. He drew 11 walks, stole 16 bases, had 23 RBIs and scored 23 runs. He had a .456 batting average and .534 onbase percentage.
Marathon senior pitcher and center fielder Cody Radtke was awarded unanimous first team all-Marawood South Conference this season after receiving honorable mention all-conference last season. He had a 7-3 pitching record with a 2.26 ERA this season. He had a .389 batting average with 35 hits and 17 RBIs.
Red Raiders junior outfielder Drew Woelfel earned unanimous first team allconference for the first time this season. He had a .376 batting average with 32 hits and 20 RBIs.
Auburndale senior Blake Raab was a unanimous first team all-Marawood South Conference player this season. Auburndale junior Peyton Weinfurter also made first team all-conference.
Edgar senior pitcher and shortstop Leyton Schuett was awarded second team allconference this season. He was a unanimous first team all-conference player last season after earning second team all-conference two seasons ago. Schuett had a 7-4 pitching record with a 3.14 ERA this spring. He collected 25 hits in 84 at-bats this season including 20 singles, four doubles and a triple. He drew 13 walks while collecting 28 RBIs and scoring 20 runs.
Wildcats senior fist baseman Fletcher Weiland and junior catcher Gavin Mauer also earned second team all-conference this season. Stratford junior left fielder and catcher Jaegerd Ormond made second team all-conference this spring.
Marathon junior pitcher and shortstop True Thurs was awarded second team all-Marawood South Conference for the second straight season after receiving honorable mention all-conference two years ago. He had a 6-1 pitching record with a 1.86 ERA this spring. He had a .356 batting average with 27 RBIs.
Red Raiders sophomore first baseman and catcher Owen Chrouser earned second team all-conference. He had a .342 batting average with 12 RBIs. Marathon sophomore second baseman Ean Shuda also made second team all-conference. He had a .375 batting average with 20 RBIs.
Auburndale senior Nathan Richardson and Wisconsin Rapids Assumption junior Chase Leberg and sophomore JJ Oswald also earned second team all-conference this season.
Edgar senior outfielder Brock Mauer and sophomore third baseman Sawyer Weiland received honorable mention all-Marawood South Conference this spring. Marathon junior third baseman Evan De-Broux earned honorable mention all-conference. DeBroux had a .333 batting average with 15 RBIs. Marathon sophomore Quillan Kunkel also received honorable mention all-conference. Kunkel had a .375 batting average with 13 RBIs. Stratford junior right fielder Jack Remus and freshman center fielder Matthew Schoenfuss also received honorable mention all-conference this season.
Other players earning honorable mention all-conference this spring are Assumption junior Ron Bord and sophomore Camden Martin, Auburndale senior Ayden Raab and junior Joshua Lundgren and Newman Catholic seniors Carson Rice and Evan Greene.
Marawood North
Athens sophomore center fielder and pitcher Daxton Diethelm was awarded unanimous first team all-Marawood North Conference for the second straight season. Athens junior shortstop Kamden Zarnke and sophomore pitcher and right fielder Kaleb Cracraft were also unanimous first team all-conference players this season.
Other unanimous first team all-Marawood North Conference baseball players this spring are Abby/Colby senior Payton Schreiber, Chequamegon senior Corbyn Phelps, Prentice junior Heston Hueckman and Rib Lake junior Talon Scheithauer and freshman Slade Scheithauer. Talon Scheithauer was awarded the conference Player of the Year and Rib Lake’s Dick Iverson was the conference’s Coach of the Year. Chequamegon senior Dalton Schmidt and Rib Lake junior Ethan Cook also made first team all-conference.
Athens sophomore third baseman Alex Belter was named second team all-Marawood North Conference this season. Other players earning second team all-conference are Chequamegon senior Isiah Bourgard and junior Marcus Purdy, Prentice seniors Jonas Staroba and Adam Raab and junior Hardy Hueckman, Rib Lake senior Brady Heiser and junior Seth Borchardt, Abby/Colby sophomore Arturo Lopez and Phillips junior Sawyer Kucaba.
Bluejays sophomore catcher Mason Belter earned honorable mention all-Marawood North Conference this spring. Other players receiving honorable mention all-conference are Abby/Colby juniors Christian Fuentes and Irvin Aguilera, Chequamegon juniors Joe Wartgow and Antonio Poetzl, Phillips seniors Brayden Revak and Ayden Tobias, Prentice juniors Ryder Jones and Aiden Hause and Rib Lake senior Tyler Matyka and freshman Lucas Cook.
