Taylor county isn’t so bad after all. Here we are having hot weather, eating ice cream and carrying sunshades and fans, but winter is not yet over at Superior, at least, on June 9, she had a full sized and well feathered out snow storm.
100 Years Ago June 11, 1925 Soo Line Buys Pitzke Bull for Show Purposes
A Pitzke bull is to be shown by the Soo Line at the big fair to be held at Minot, North Dakota, in July. They purchased the animal Monday, after a visit to Pitzke’s Deer Creek Center stock farm by Frank Kadonsky, Soo Line immigration agent. The bull is a calf of Mr. Pitzke’s raising—five months old. He will be shipped to Minot toward the end of this month.

June 15, 1950 Independence Day Will Be Celebrated July 2 At Medford City Park
National Guard and American Legion committee chairmen for the Independence Day celebration in Medford announced this week that the celebration will be held Sunday, July 2, and not on the Fourth of July. In case of inclement weather, the celebration will take place on Tuesday, the fourth.
The jointly sponsored celebration is headed by Glen Resech, committee chairman for Company A, 724th Combat Engineers, Medford National Guard, and Paul Buehler, chairman of the Landua-Jensen post Medford American Legion committee.
50 Years Ago June 12, 1975 Coupons, Free Ice Cream Part of Dairy Days Event
Medford Area Chamber of Commerce June Dairy Days will wind up Saturday, with participating merchants distributing coupons redeemable for dairy products, distribution of free ice cream and special sales. The week’s activities got off to a start with a farm-city banquet Wednesday at Medford senior high school.

June 15, 2000 Cancer walk breaks record for money raised, participation
A total of 284 participants showed up last Friday evening for the Medford Making Strides Against Cancer walk. It was not only a record number of walkers registered, they also logged a record of $29,039 in registration fees, pledges and luminary donations. That far exceeded the goal of $17,500 for this year’s event.
The top individual fundraiser was Faith Schmidt with $4,057. Other top individuals were Allan Koffler with $536, Merri Koffler with $524, Sally Thomas with $525 and Chris Werner with $500.
10 Years Ago June 11, 2015 City picks Pioneer Dr. for road name
Aldermen say they want to have a more prominent street named after Joseph Simek Pioneer Drive is the name of the new road in the Medford industrial park expansion south of CTH O.
Aldermen voted to recommend the name during Monday night’s committee of the whole meeting. Pioneer Drive was among the top three vote getters in a recent online contest held to help the city decide on a name for the road. The finalists in the contest were Simek Street, Pioneer Drive and Innovation Lane.
According to Sue Emmerich of the Medford Area Chamber of Commerce, there were 152 votes received in the contest with Simek Street receiving the highest total by a wide margin.
