Area residents are invited to attend free suicide prevention workshop
Prevent Suicide Taylor County will be hosting a free suicide prevention workshop on Thursday, June 19 from 6-7:30PM in the newly remodeled Taylor County Multi-Purpose Room, located on the corner of 64 & 13 in Medford. CALM Conversations is a 90-minute workshop provided by CALM America, that links friends, families, and others with information and tools to help them recognize and respond to suicide risk. The event also focuses on reducing access to lethal means, including firearms, which may be used to die by suicide.
At the conclusion of the session, CALM Conversations workshop participants will learn:
• Basic facts and misconceptions about suicide, common risk factors and warning signs, and the importance of means safety to keep at-risk individuals safe
• How to ask about mood and suicide
• How to provide support to at-risk individuals
• How to make the environment safer for an at-risk individual until their mood improves by reducing access to lethal means This free event is being hosted by Prevent Suicide Taylor County, with funding support from Taylor County Human Services to promote safer communities.
