Curtiss Corners Quilt Club Meeting

The Curtiss Corners Quilt Club met Monday, May 19 at 6:45 p.m. in the Curtiss Community Center. Roll Call was conducted with 16 members attending.

The 2025 community service project supports Clark County Humane Society (CCHS). Club members are sewing pet bandanas and toys which are for sale with 100% of proceeds donated to CCHS. Along with bandana sales there will be donation drop boxes to collect supplies CCHS needs. If you are interested in purchasing a bandana or dog or cat toy, then follow the group on Facebook for information on sale and drop off locations. You may also find them at farmer’s markets around Clark County.

For a group project the club is creating a Centennial Quilt and donating it to the city of Owen for its centennial celebration in August 2025. Quilt blocks reflecting Owen’s logging history, railroads and Yellowstone Trail were due at the May meeting. Twenty-four blocks were sewn and put together with brown sashing and yellow cornerstones. Donna Reamer will freehand a meandering design for the quilting.

Do you quilt or would like to learn? Consider stopping by the June meeting and meet the club members. Next meeting is Monday, June 16, at 6:45 p.m. in Curtiss.

Monthly Tip: Make the most of your yardage. Cut out the larger shapes before turning to the smaller one. If you accidentally miscut a larger shape, then it’s usually possible to cut a smaller shape out of that oops piece.

The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m. Curtiss Corners Quilt Club is on Facebook. Check it out for club news and mark your calendar for the 2025 Quilt Show on Saturday, August 2 in Curtiss.
