Solstice party will mark opening of new play area
The completion of the second phase of the Our Village accessible playground project marks the end of a labor of love nearly a decade in the making. Crews installed the final surface of the accessible playground on Tuesday and by Friday morning, area youth should be able to begin using the park. A grand opening is scheduled for June 17.
The Our Village Playground project was created as a way to provide an opportunity for families to enjoy time outdoors. The equipment is accessible and enriching and the surfacing is a resilient material that is accessible to people regardless of age and mobility level.
“We would like to recognize each and all of our other friends and families who made donations or fundraised; our special children who inspire us; our friends and families who personally support us; our community partnerships which make us stronger; our school staff who teach us; our City of Medford who welcomed us; and Our Special Family of Medford Schools,” said committee chair Joseph Greget.
He invites everyone to the official Our Village Playground Phase II Grand Opening on Tuesday June 17, at 4 p.m. The event will include donor recognition, and ribbon cutting as part of our Summer Solstice Party Event.
The Summer Solstice Party will be held from 4-8 p.m. and also feature Our Village Playground, Sun Fun Run or Walk with and without Color Splash, Free Family Swim, Bingo for Books, Pizza by Nestle, DJ music by Woller Productions, Miller and Mike Comedy and Juggling Show, large games, prizes and more.
