Motorcycle vs. deer
CREASH REPORTS
On May 10, at 9 p.m., a motorcycle operated by Curtis Everson, 24, of Medford and carrying a passenger, Chloe Pearson, 22, was southbound on Peche Dr. just south of Wilderness Ave. when it struck a deer that came out from the west ditch. The driver lost control of the motorcycle, which resulted in the bike being laid onto its side and entered the west ditch where it came to rest. Both the driver and passenger went to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics for suspected serious injuries. The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was removed by a third party. Everson was cited for operating a motorcycle without a valid license and failure of operator to notify police of accident. Pearson was cited for failure of occupant to notify police of accident.
On May 9, at 11:45 p.m. a vehicle operated by Kim Quist, 58, of Dorchester, was southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Deer Creek. According to the crash report, the driver observed a deer enter onto the roadway from the west ditch. The driver swerved attempting to avoid the deer causing the driver to lose control and enter the west ditch. The vehicle continued southbound where it struck a field access. The vehicle then continued a short distance before coming to a stop in the ditch with disabling damage to the front end. Quist was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control and failure of operator to notify police of accident.
On May 10, at 7:41 p.m., Taylor County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a one vehicle crash on Rinehart Dr. in the town of Goodrich. According to the crash report, at an unknown time on May 10 a vehicle operated by Edinson JaJoy, 40, of Joliet, Ill., was driving southbound on Rinehart Dr. approaching Willow Ave. A deer entered the roadway and the driver swerved to avoid the deer, causing the vehicle to drive across the northbound lane and into the east ditch of Rinehart Dr. Upon entering the ditch, the vehicle flipped end over end coming to a stop on its roof. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
On May 12, at 4:31 p.m., a semi-trailer operated by Aaron Julian, 24, of Medford, and owned by Medford Cooperative, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 102 and attempted to turn northbound onto Rib Road. According to the crash report, the operator turned too sharply and entered the northeast ditch resulting in it overturning. The driver told law enforcement he slowed down to turn and when he began to turn, he felt the trailer start to tip. The vehicle sustained disabling damage.
On May 8, a pickup truck operated by Derick Vizer, 24, of Cadott, was driving west on Spur Road in the town of McKinley. According to the crash report, the driver heard a noise in the rear of the pickup truck. The driver pulled over and observed smoke. The driver later observed the rear of the unit was on fire. The road was closed for about an hour as law enforcement, firefighters and a tow truck responded. The vehicle was towed with disabling damage.
On May 6, at 3:37 p.m., Taylor Country Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a hit and run crash at N5216 CTH C in the town of Greenwood. According to the report the crash occurred on May 2 when a vehicle owned by William Walsh of Rib Lake, was legally parked at the southwest corner of the parking lot of Wild Bill’s Tap at N5216 CTH C. A second vehicle struck Walsh’s vehicle on the driver’s side when either pulling into the parking lot or leaving from it. The vehicle sustained a major amount of damage to the driver’s side and was removed by the owner.
On May 15, at 10:35 a.m., a vehicle operated by Michael Kalmon, 46, of Rib Lake, was parked and unoccupied in the Marathon Cheese parking lot at 1000 Progressive Ave. in the city of Medford. A vehicle owned by Medford Motors and operated by Randell Steinman, 63, of Rib Lake, was backing in the parking lot. According to the crash report, Steinman did not see the Kalmon vehicle.
On May 14, at 4:41 a.m., a vehicle operated by Curt Roeber, 78, of Medford, struck a deer while northbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Chelsea. The vehicle sustained functional damage.
On May 15, at 10:23 p.m., a vehicle operated by Angela McPherson, 51, of Tomahawk, struck a deer while northbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Westboro. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
