The Colby golf team stepped into form as they competed on three different courses over the past week and a half.

The Hornets fit in a pair of nine-hole meets on Tuesday, May 13 when they traveled to Owen-Withee’s Meadowview Golf Course for two Cloverbelt-East minimeets. Colby took third out of five teams in Cloverbelt-East Mini-Meet #2 and fourth out of five teams in Mini-Meet #5, finishing with compiled scores of 206 and 193 respectively.

During Mini-Meet #2, Owen-Withee took the top spot, defeating Neillsville by three strokes and finishing with a score of 180. Neillsville’s Tucker Johnson had the best score on the day, pacing the field by six strokes and finishing with a 36.

Gavin Voss and Braiden Johnson went back-to-back for Colby, taking eighth and ninth overall. Voss finished the course in 48 strokes while Johnson filed in shortly behind his teammate with a score of 50. Landon Steinman took 12th overall with a score of 53 and Jacob Hoppe placed 14th with a score of 55.

Mini-Meet #5 saw Neillsville take the upper hand over Owen-Withee with the Warriors shooting a 171 over the Blackhawks’ 183. While Colby improved their team score, Columbus Catholic also had a much better day, barely sneaking past the Hornets with a score of 191 to 193.
