1949-2025

James R. Romanowski, 76, of rural Stanley, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025. He was born on Feb. 6, 1949 at Victory Memorial Hospital, the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Linse) Romanowski. Jim grew up on the family farm in the Town of Taft and graduated from Stanley-Boyd High. Jim then went to operating engineering school in Pennsylvania. He worked for the Engineers-Local 139 Union and retired after 40 years. Jim also loved doing work around his farm and he was an avid Whitetail hunter, with many stories of the big bucks. He loved watching the geese and ducks on his pond and other wildlife.

In his younger years he loved riding his motorcycle with his friends, and going out west hunting with his brother and friends. Also, trips smelt fishing on Lake Superior and Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. Jim was a Green Bay Packer backer. He loved helping the KC’s pulling the floats through events and was an active member of Holy Family-All Saints Parish. Jim also enjoyed his visits to Kwik Trip and visiting with people from his Union-139.

He is survived by his children, Bradley (Jayne), Mike and Candace Romanowski; his brothers, Ronald (Judy) Romanowski of Gilman and Lawrence (Beverly) Romanowski of Stanley; and many other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his nephew, Daniel Romanowski.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 17 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church-Stanley with Father William Felix officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:15 a.m. at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley. Burial will follow the luncheon in Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery-Gilman. Pallbearers are Larry Joe, Crystal, Brian, Dustin and Pete Romanowski and Bill Rice, Jr.
