Donald “Don” R. Walters, 91, of Curtiss, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Abbotsford Health Care Center, under the care of Hope Hospice. A memorial service for Don will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Curtiss Alliance Church, with Pastor Carl Swarr officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Kennan Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Curtiss Alliance Church, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m.

Don was born on Sept. 12, 1933 to Edwin and Ethel Walters in Lansing, Mich. After his schooling, Don served in the Army National Guard for three years in Lansing. He married Luella Parks on Dec. 4, 1954 in Eaton Rapids, Mich. Together they opened up their home to many nieces and nephews and took them in, no matter how long or short they stayed. While in Michigan, Don was a sheep farmer and owned a gas station. Don and Luella moved to Athens where they became dairy farmers until they sold the farm and moved to Dorchester. In Dorchester, they ran Walters Adult Care Home in Curtiss for many years, taking care of the elderly. Upon retirement, Don and Lue moved to Curtiss where Don ran a small engine repair shop and a toy restoration business. Don was forced to quit working at 90 years old, due to ill health.

Don was known for his toy restoration. It started as a hobby and grew into a business, where he served customers all over the country and the world.

Don is survived by his niece, Sue (Ken) Rodman of Medford; nephews, Jeff Draper of Wausau, John (Wendy) Draper of Gulfport, Miss., and Ty (Candy) Crosby of Rives Junction, Mich. Don is further survived by many great-nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Luella; brother, Robert (Ilene) Walters; nephew, Allen Zorn; nieces, Jeanne Crosby and Karen Hayward.
