VFW AUXILIARY PRESENTS AWARDS - Athens VFW Auxiliary president Ruth Weiler presents the award for Tap players to juniors Eli Paul, left of her, and John Zunker. Weiler also presented the award for National Anthem singers to freshman Trisha Giese and senior Aleah Frahm.
TOP CHORAL STUDENT - Adam Triebold, Athens choir director, presents senior Alejandro Vasquez-Yeager with the Outstanding Chorister Award which recognizes the top choral student in a high school program. The award acknowledges the choral student’s dedication, musical achievement and positive contributions to the choir.
U.S. MARINES AWARD WINNER -
Senior McKenzie Belter won the Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence. It is a recognition presented by the United States Marines Youth Foundation and the Marine Corps League to high school band members who demonstrate musical excellence and leadership.
EXEMPLARY MUSIC STUDENT - Stan Smith, Athens middle/high school band teacher, awards senior Aleah Frahm with the John Philip Sousa Award. The John Philip Sousa Award is an award a high school band director may award to one of his students. It is restricted to one per school year. The award recognizes superior musicianship, dependabilty, loyalty and cooperation. Frahm also received the National Choral Award, which is the highest honor given for high school choral performers, and the Dance Merit Award from choir teacher Adam Triebold.
