Susan “Sue” L. Sloniker

1949-2025

Susan “Sue” L. Sloniker, age 75, of Hazelhurst, passed away on April 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her partner of 45 years, Karin A. Long, at the care of Aspirus Hospice. Sue was born on Dec. 12, 1949, to Delbert and Shirley (Schaefer) Sloniker. She is survived by her beloved Karin; her mother, Shirley Sloniker; her brother, Gary Sloniker (Cindy); nieces, Sara Kiral (Tom) and Michelle Kabdi (Housni) and their families; as well as many dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Delbert; and brother, Mark Sloniker.

A proud 1968 graduate of Medford High School, Sue earned her Bachelor’s degree from UW–Green Bay. As a juried artist, she was featured in the Ann Arbor Art Fair and operated pottery studios in Manitowoc, Milwaukee, and Hazelhurst. Sue also worked for the City of Milwaukee’s Department of Neighborhood Services before retiring to the Willow Flowage area.

Sue was an athlete and advocate, running a marathon at age 40 and participating in wildlife conservation efforts with Karin. She will be remembered for her artistic spirit, compassion, generosity, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
