The Spencer Rockets participated in a gloomy and somewhat rainy meet at home last Friday, the Loyal Invitational led by Loyal volunteers. Several Spencer athletes made it into the top eight in their events to earn points for their team.

Boys results On the boys’ side, Breckin Miller won the 110m hurdles, finishing in 15.75 seconds to earn a personal record. The 4x100m relay also took first place, with team members of Teddy Meyer, Mason Dieringer, Benjamin Felgner, and Sam Helgestad completing the race in 47.61. Meyer placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet. The 4x400m relay took fourth with a time of 3:51.48. Team members were Jackson Hoeper, Efrain Olguin-Cano, Felgner, and Miller. Olguin-Cano took fourth in the 100m dash, with a time of 12.03 seconds, good for a personal record. Jackson Hoeper took sixth in that event with a time of 12.36.

Hezekiah Duda placed sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:04.45, achieving a personal record. Helgestad took sixth in the 1.6kg discus throw with a distance of 109 feet, 8 inches (109-8), setting a season record. Kade Dovenbager took seventh in the 800m run with a time of 2:38.82 and placed eighth in the 1,600m run with a time of 6:12.38, a personal record, for eighth place. Mason Dieringer took seventh in the 12-pound shot put with a distance of 35 feet.

The Spencer boys placed fifth out of eight teams with 52 points. Winning the meet was the Medford Area team with 177 points, while Loyal had the fewest points with 10.

Girls results In the 100m dash, Caitlin Clark, Katherine Yorgey, and Brooklyn Baumgarten placed third, fourth, and sixth, respectively. Their times were 13.9, 14.4, and 14.55. Clark set a season record and Baumgarten set a personal record. The 4x200m relay took third place with a time of 2:00.54. Team members were Rachel Nieman, Alina Jackson, Brooklyn Baumgarten, and Clark. Ribeka Sakai took fourth in the 1,600 meters, finishing with a time of 7:15.39. Baumgarten tied for fourth place in the high jump, clearing the bar at 4-4 for a personal record. Clark took fourth place in the long jump with a distance of 13-10.5 and Nieman took fifth at 12-11.75. The 4x100m relay placed fifth with a time of 59.13. Team members were Alina Jackson, Abril Alvarez Macias, Ashley Fitzgerald, and Yorgey.

Tahneya Anderson took sixth place in the 400m dash, coming in at 1:15.1, a personal record. In the 200m dash, Alina Jackson and Rachel Nieman took seventh and eighth place, respectively, with times of 31.17 and 31.4. Both achieved a season best. Kaitlin Radue threw the 4kg shot put 26-10 for eighth place and a season record. She also threw the discus 83-10, a personal record, for eighth place.

The girls took sixth place out of seven teams with 52.5 points. The Medford Area team won the meet with 145 points, while Thorp had the fewest points with 19.5.

Greenwood The Greenwood High School team was also in attendance. On the boys’ side, Chad Oldham took fourth in the 400m dash, achieving a personal record at 1:00.14. Lucas Nielsen took seventh in that event at 1:06.49, also a personal record. Oldham also placed fifth in the 800m run at 2:24.2, good for a personal record, while Devan Rose took eighth in that event at 3:20.8 for a personal record. The boys 4x100m relay consisting of Peyton Ellis, Andrew Lindner, Dre Green, and Hunter Wolf took third place with a time of 51.48 seconds. Mason Kohnert took sixth in the 300m hurdles at 59.08 for a personal record. Lindner placed sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 29-8.75.

On the girls’ side, Renaya Horvath took first in the 100m wheelchair event, completing the race in 24.56 seconds, a personal record. She also took first in the 800m wheelchair event at 4:31.91, another personal record. Additionally, she won and achieved a personal record in the 4kg shot put wheelchair event at 13-8. For women’s wheelchair, Greenwood earned 30 points.

The Greenwood girls team did not register a team score.
