The Edgar varsity boys track and field team took second place in Friday’s Loyal Invitational held in Spencer while the Wildcat girls finished third. Medford Area won both the boys and girls meet championships. The Athens varsity boys track and field squad took fourth place and the Bluejay girls were fifth. The following are the top three place winners from Athens and Edgar in each event.

Athens junior Brandon Krause took third place in the boys 400-meter dash in 59.88 seconds. Edgar sophomore Tyler Schmidt placed third in the boys 800-meter run in two minutes, 21.16 seconds. Edgar junior Maverick Butt placed third in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.44 seconds. Athens sophomore Brock Beaty placed third in the 300-meter hurdles in 45.88 seconds.

The Edgar boys 4x200-meter relay team won the event in 1:39.20 and consists of juniors Dawson Bornheimer and Dom Contreras and sophomores Izach Myszka and Isaiah Kraft. Edgar senior Korey Koeppl won the boys shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 7-1/4 inches. Athens sophomore Cole Hartmann took second place in the boys discus with a toss of 116 feet, 11 inches. Edgar junior Wade Kohel was third in the discus with 115 feet, nine inches.

Edgar sophomore Carson Nowak won the boys high jump with five feet, 10 inches. Athens freshman Eli Schaer took second place in the high jump with five feet, eight inches and Brandon Krause was third with five feet, six inches. Schaer won the boys pole vault with 11 feet. Edgar senior Ty Schnelle won the boys long jump with 19 feet, half an inch. Contreras of Edgar won the boys triple jump with 38 feet while Bornheimer of Edgar was third with 37 feet, six inches.

Athens freshman Jaci Hart took third place in the girls 200-meter dash in 29.66 seconds. Athens sophomore Ellis Baer placed third in the girls 400-meter run in 1:06.15. Baer placed third in the 800-meter run in 2:34.83. Bluejays senior Brianna Sheahan was third in the 1,600-meter run in 5:46.87 and she was second in the 3,200-meter run in 13:27.

The Edgar girls 4x100-meter relay team won the event in 53.94 seconds and incudes seniors Addisyn Trawicki and Mia Stencil, sophomore Rachel Burke and freshman Shiloh Karlen. The same four girls took second place in the 4x200-meter relay.

Athens junior Sy’Rih Hartwig won the girls shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 3-1/2 inches while Athens sophomore Delaney Beasley was third with 30 feet, 10-1/4 inches. Beasley placed second in the discus with a toss of 100 feet, seven inches. Edgar sophomore Naquene Ellenbecker placed third with 92 feet, eight inches. Athens sophomore Grace Schreiner took second place in the girls pole vault with eight feet, six inches.

Edgar sophomore Rachel Burke won the girls long jump with 15 feet, 5-1/2 inches while Edgar freshman Shiloh Karlen finished second with 15 feet, 4-1/2 inches and Trawicki placed third with 14 feet, 5-1/2 inches. Karlen won the triple jump with 34 feet, 10 inches while Trawicki placed second with 33 feet, 8-1/2 inches and Burke was third with 33 feet, 5-1/2 inches.
