A girl and words from Mother Earth

What to speak to you about this week? A lot has happened and a lot will soon be happening with graduations coming up, people moving around, and summer activities starting. A lot more of outdoor time, planting, biking, playing yard games, yard work, bonfires, kayaking or boating, and the list continues. This past weekend I took advantage of the nice weather and used that time to become a lumberjack. Here lies the story...
There once was a tree in Samiâs front yard that laid next to some concrete, they call a âdriveway.â This tree was growing in such a way that the direction was becoming ever so close to her abode. The decay of this tree was becoming ever more apparent and the last of the feathery friends of hers could no longer use it as lodging. Oh, but Sami struck a deal one day with Mother Earth. The tree can remain - however, only if she could manage removing the decay herself. As Sami stalked around said tree, she thought, âHow is this possible? For this tree is still partially alive and budding new spawns high above my head. But many hollow holes from the woodpeckers are cascading like empty pinpricks all around. There is life on this tree in spore form (mushrooms) even though the decay is festering and slowly shortening up the remaining days it has. I must do something to help.â As Sami said that, her mind got to work. âI canât use power tools as that was a part of the deal. The hard work must be felt. Mother Earth spoke of feeling the process.â Sami got to work, with a hatchet in her hand and some rope in the other. She would heed the words spoken to her by Mother Earth and would respect the treeâs life as her own. Little by little for the tree, but much work for the tailor, the tree started to be cut. One part of the trunk down, two, then three. Sweat and tears, the releasing was happening to not only the tree but to the worker herself. Healing was taking place and was not expected. Like removing the decay from your life, making you lighter and giving you room to forage on a new path. Life will spring again, and what better way than to give the spot of life a place to grow again. Unshaded and unsplintered - as is now the stump of the tree remains.
Thinking of what to do with the remaining tree stump; maybe I should carve a little bowl in the center, to place a larger bowl and turn it into a birdbath. It can be used to give a new purpose and the birds will be happy. Maybe I need to find a potter and commission them, or go throw with them and create a beautiful and ornate birdbath.
Donât forget to listen to Mother Earth, she is speaking all the time. Itâs for you to listen to her symphony. Happy Motherâs Day to you dear Mother. Happy warm weather and donât forget to listen to the birds too.
