Highway 29 project The pavement of WIS 29 from Koser Avenue west of Thorp to County D in Owen is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is planning to:
•Make repairs to the concrete pavement
•Place 3.75 inches of new asphalt pavement over WIS 29
•Remove 1.25 inches of the existing pavement on the ramps at the WIS 29 interchanges at WIS 73 North/County M and WIS 73 South/County T, and place 2.25 inches of new asphalt
•Replace the expansion joints on the east- and westbound WIS 29 bridges over the Black River west of Withee
•Replace all wing walls on a culvert carrying the Popple River under WIS 29 west of County D in Owen
•Replace the northwest wing wall on a culvert between Thorp and Withee
•Clean culverts and ditches
•Replace guardrail and pavement markings WIS 29 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures and a speed limit reduction in the work zone. During work on the WIS 73 North/County M interchange in Thorp and the WIS 73 South/County T interchange in Withee, motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging or temporary signals.
Construction is scheduled for completion in early November.
