A thens Senior Card Group

The Senior Citizens card group met on June 13 for weekly card playing at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall.

Two games of Sheepshead were played. Aaron Totzke won first place and Sally Stubbe came in second in the first game. Nobert Lake won first and Butch Boris came in second in the second game.

Low score was Dave Perrodin. Newcomers are encouraged to come play Sheepshead every Thursday from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Athens fire hall.

Adventures in the Park

Join the Athens Branch staff for adventures in Athens Park on Monday, June 24, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The adventure will start with a Family Story Time at 10:30 a.m., followed by crafts and a scavenger hunt within and around the park. Any young ones who return the completed scavenger hunt bags to the library will receive a prize.

Friday Night Dinner

Friday Night Dinner by the Gazebo for June 21 will by Trinity Lutheran Youth. Dinner will consist of grilled burgers, baked beans, chips, soda and water and dessert. Serving will start at 5:30 p.m. and go until the concert ends. The Old Timers concert will start at 7:30 p.m. In the event of rain, the dinner and concert will move to the arena in Memorial Park.

Michael Peterson, Hamburg, has graduated from Northcentral Technical College’s Criminal Justice - Law Enforcement 720 Academy and Jail Academy. The Jail Academy Certificate is a Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited 200-hour program that prepares learners for positions as correction officers in county jails.

Martha Miller has earned highest honors for the 2024 spring semester at UW-Green Bay. Highest honors go to students who earn a 4.0 grade point average, which represents all “A” grades.

Children ages six and under and their parents and caregivers are invited to come to the Marathon City Branch Library each Thursday for Family Story Time. Farmers Market

The Marathon City Farmers Market will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. every Thursday at 400 Main St. More than 45 vendors will be selling produce, bakery items, flowers, arts and craft. S tratford Leap, Frog, Leap!

On Monday, June 24, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., staff from Children’s Wisconsin will lead a program at the Stratford Branch Library during which children will use their fine motor skills to make some froggy art and their motor skills to act like frogs. They’ll also be available to speak with parents and caregivers about parenting and developmental questions, and recommend community services that the adults might not know about.
