FOURTH GRADE VISITS STATE CAPITOL

It’s hard to believe that the school year has come to an end and our fourth graders will move up to fifth grade. We’ve had such a busy and fun year with so many memories made, but, as they say, all good things must come to an end.
In math, we worked hard to learn different strategies to solve problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We’ve explored fractions and geometry, as well as dabbled in data analysis. Students were able to put their problem solving skills to the test by solving KenKen puzzles and Math 24 cards, as well as during various math games. We’ve really grown our math skills this year!
In reading, we ended our year traveling through history to learn about the American Revolution. This was such a neat unit of study that really brought our learning and collaboration to life! The students worked hard to analyze different perspectives on the war and better understand the cause and effect dynamics each event had on a given population. We also put our acting and singing skills to the test by acting out various scenes and examining lyrics to showcase our knowledge of historic events and people.
Our Madison trip took place on May 15 this year and we couldn’t have asked for better weather or better students to take on the trip. We had a great day exploring the Henry Vilas Zoo, Veterans Museum, Wisconsin Historical Museum and our capitol building. We want to extend a huge thank you to our fourth grade parents and grandparents who made the trip an amazing day from start to finish. We are also extremely grateful for the Spencer community for supporting our trip through our can cage, and Mike and Denise Bodendorfer for generously taking care of emptying our Can Cage. Without your support, this trip would not be possible!
