Highway project resumed

Work was continued on the resurfacing of Highway 13 on the stretch from Abbotsford to Marshfield. The roadway had been widened the year prior and the surface course of black topping will finish off the project.

Fire department needs clear directions to fires

Fire chief Norman Olsen asked that community members provide more details as to the location of fires when calling in the emergency. The announcement was made after a fire truck was sent to an incorrect location on Wednesday morning.

Eighty-four children at Lutheran Summer Bible School

A number of local youths attend the religious vacation school that began on Monday and will continue for three weeks.

The Colby teacher was honored at a retirement tea given Tuesday at the Colby high school library. Carlson had taught since 1927 and had worked at Colby for the past 10 years.

162 students graduate tonight at Colby High

Class President Jeffrey Brown will preside over the commencement ceremony while class speaker Marilyn Bauer and Michael Lamont, Rev. Kenneth Dix, and Dr. Darwin Slocum from UW-Madison also addressed the graduating class and those gathered.
