Granton, Greenwood athletes compete at Marshfield


Athletes from Greenwood and Granton high schools participated in track and field competitions at Marshfield last week. On Tuesday, the Greenwood boys attended the Marshfield Tiger Boys Invite at the Marshfield High School fieldhouse, with results as follows.
The Greenwood boys’ 4x160-yard, four-lap relay took seventh place with a time of 1:27.10 to earn points for Greenwood. Relay members were Jaren Cullen, Peyton Ellis, Andrew Lindner and Luke Thomas. Other athletes placing in the top eight to earn points for Greenwood were members of the 4x880-yard relay — Chad Oldham, Lucas Nielsen, Wyatt Mulvaney and Andy Mitchell — who took seventh place at 11:44.08.
The Greenwood boys took 13th place out of 13 teams with 4 points. The Marshfield boys won the meet, scoring 112.5 points.
Girls results Last Thursday, it was the girls’ turn, with athletes from Granton and Greenwood competing at the Marshfield Tiger Girls Invite.
The Greenwood girls 4x220-yard, eight-lap relay team took eighth place with a time of 3:27.17. Relay members were Laura Justin, Sarah Beth Reiff, Faith Kolano and Kayla Grambsch. Their eighth-place finish was good enough to earn a point for their team.
The other athlete placing in the top eight to earn points for Greenwood was Renaya Horvath, who took first in the wheelchair shot put with a distance of 12’8”.
For the Granton girls, point earners were as follows. Anna Kayhart took seventh place in the 60m hurdles to earn points for her team, finishing with a time of 9.96. The girls 4x160-yard, four-lap relay took third place with a time of 1:30.45, with team members of Kayhart, Jordan Berg, Maya McConkey and Faustina Thomas. Also, Mayleth Gonzalez placed eighth in the 880-yard run with a time of 3:39.23.
The Granton girls placed 13th out of 17 schools represented, with 8 points. The Greenwood girls tied for 16th place with 1 point. Winning the event with 129 points were the Marshfield girls.
