LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Gibbs is the right choice for board

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

I was employed at the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office for 43 years and during that time had the privilege of working with a variety of county board supervisors and chairpersons.

The last portion of my career, the county board chair was Kurt Gibbs.

One can easily use a number of verbs to describe Kurt. Trust is the most important to me. I knew I could trust Kurt to represent the county board and himself in a passionate and engaging manner.

Kurt is always willing to openly share his perspective and is open to discussion whether you agree with him or not. I found Kurt to be knowledgeable about the ideas, issues, concerns and cares of our Marathon County residents. Kurt was thorough as he researched topics the county board was going to face or become involved in. Kurt is approachable.

I felt lucky to have someone leading the county board that was interested in and took pride in doing what was right for our Marathon County citizens and those who work in or visit this county. Kurt leads professionally and respectfully. This is why I find it incredibly easy to endorse Kurt Gibbs for the Marathon County Board. We need people like Kurt Gibbs on the Marathon County Board.

I encourage you to vote for Kurt Gibbs.

I do not live in the Stratford School District, but I’ve open enrolled my three children since 4K on up. Since then, my oldest just graduated last year where she excelled in math and reading. My middle child excels in sports (and does well with academics) in high school. And my third, well… he would love to excel at being the class clown. In all seriousness, he is great too.

Throughout our journey of raising our kids, I know I could not have done it without the wonderful teachers, coaches and staff who have mentored and guided my children along the way. And just like my kids, all teachers are different and may have different views and backgrounds, but their one common goal is to educate our children, and this includes teaching them the capabilities to be critical thinkers and self-sufficient young adults.

I am so happy that Julie Levelius, a former Stratford Elementary teacher of 37 years, is running for school board. What better person to help bridge the gap between parental involvement, a great education, and budget concerns? Teachers work tirelessly to help our children succeed. And since Julie was a former teacher, I know Julie will work tirelessly in this role to keep making Stratford School District progress and thrive and keep ALL families and children in her realm of concern.

I cannot vote for Julie because I do not live in the district. Please vote for me! Cast your vote for Julie Levelius on April 2.
