Two vehicle crashes
A two vehicle crash occurred on February 29 at 7:57 a.m. on Hwy 13 in the city of Medford. A vehicle operated by Michael Mahner, 22, of Medford and a vehicle operated by Kimberly Klemm, 56, of Rib Lake, were both southbound on Hwy 13. According to the crash report, Klemm stated she indicated a lane change and proceeded to move left, not seeing the Mahner vehicle. Mahner stated he was next to the Klemm vehicle when she initiated a lane change. The Mahner vehicle sustained disabling damage, the Klemm vehicle sustained functional damage.
At 11:13 a.m. on February 26, a vehicle operated by Sarah Hoehn, 29, of Medford, was sitting at the stop sign at the intersection of CTH M and Hwy 13 facing west. According to the crash report, the driver observed a truck and trailer that was attempting to turn and go east on CTH M. Hoehn backed up to make more room for the truck and trailer and while backing up struck a vehicle operated by Amanda Hentges, 38, of Rib Lake, which was behind the Hoehn vehicle at the stop sign. Minor damage occurred to both vehicles.
On March 3, at 3:11 p.m., a two vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy 13 and Ann’s Way in the city of Medford. A vehicle operated by Sheila Frey, 55, of Withee, was traveling westbound on Grace Way through the roundabout located on Hwy 13. A vehicle driven by Michael Ewert, 43, of Eagle River, was traveling northbound through the roundabout and was in the innermost lane while the Frey vehicle was in the outermost lane. The Frey vehicle traveled in front of the Ewert vehicle causing the front passenger corner of the Ewert vehicle to make contact with the driver side middle of the Frey vehicle causing functional damage to both vehicles.
At 1:30 p.m., on February 23, a vehicle owned by Thomas Heikkinen of Brantwood, was legally parked in a parking stall located in the Nestlé Pizza parking lot of 940 S. Whelen Ave. A vehicle operated by Kendra Aldinger, 27, of Medford, attempted to turn into the parking space directly north of the Heikkinen vehicle but did not turn wide enough and damaging the front driver’s side of the Heikkinen vehicle. Aldinger left a note on the vehicle with her phone number before leaving the scene. Heikkinen noticed the damage at about 2:33 p.m. Aldinger admitted to driving the vehicle to Nestle and that she did not have insurance on the vehicle when she did so. Aldinger was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
One vehicle crashes
At 9:05 a.m. on February 28, a vehicle operated by Connor Highfill, 17, of Westboro, was traveling southbound on CTH D and swerved right to avoid an oncoming truck that had drifted into his lane. When the driver attempted to steer back to the left, they overcorrected causing the back end of their car to spin out and the back end passed the front of the car. The vehicle ended up in the north ditch of CTH D, facing in a northwesterly direction. While going into the ditch, the vehicle struck several smaller trees which caused damage to the front and rear bumper and quarter panel areas. The driver was uninjured and the vehicle was removed by a tow truck.
Hit and run
A hit and run occurred at 5 p.m. February 20. A mail box owned Wayne Laher, W4122 CTH O, Medford was damaged when an eastbound vehicle on CTH O left the roadway, entered the ditch and came back toward the roadway and struck the mailbox. The driver left the scene with the vehicle.
Car vs. Deer
At 6:45 p.m. on February 29, a vehicle driven by Kaedence Ecklund, 17, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling northbound on CTH E in the town of Medford. At 12 a.m., on February 25, a vehicle operated by Amber Hibbeler, 44, of Stetsonville, struck a deer while driving eastbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Holway.
At 3:41 p.m., on February 26, a horse and buggy operated by John Hostelter, 39, of Gilman, was westbound on Miller Ave. in the town of Aurora. A vehicle operated by Danette Angell, 41, of Gilman, overtook the horse and buggy on the left. The horse and buggy swerved left and struck Angell’s vehicle.
