Edgar makes grading changes for some college-level classes

By Casey Krautkramer

Edgar’s Board of Education finally put the dual credits grading controversy to rest last Wednesday by making a decision on the matter.

School district parent Corey Higgins attended the meeting to argue again that the school district’s grading system for college credit courses prevented two of his sons from achieving a 4.0 GPA (gradepoint average) during high school.

The school board made the following decision for high school courses that also offer college credits, starting in the 202425 school year: All dual credit courses will be graded at each quarter and each semester and these combined grades will count toward a student’s GPA. All Start College Now courses will be graded only at each semester and these semester-only grades will count toward a student’s GPA. All Early College Credit Program courses will be graded only at each semester and these semester-only grades will count toward a student’s GPA.
